Issued on 26 June 1893 to commemorate 400 years of printing in Montenegro. The Principality of Montenegro did not miss the opportunity to celebrate this important event, and issued a commemorative series of stamps. Specifically, this release consisted of the preceding regular issues which were overprinted in Cetinje with: "Printing House Anniversary 1493-1893". Although there are no print related images on the stamps, these are the oldest stamps that I know of to celebrate printing or the print industry
That's a nice set and some good research on your part stampsmurf :-)
Looking at the 7 Montenegrin novi valued stamp, I wonder if it does not contain a printing error as well; where the "4" appears as a "t" in 1493.
If you can, a higher resolution image would be much appreciated so we might all take a look...
Have fun and happy collecting!

I owe everyone an apology,.............I use AlbumEasy to make my stamp pages and download images of the stamps to see what they would look like for grouping etc. I inadvertently used these images for the Montenegro post. My own 7 novi stamp shows a fully printed 4 and not a badly damaged one as in original post.
Looking at the image, if it was a 't' instead of a '4', the spacing between that and the '1' would be smaller - the spacing looks consistent with a damaged/badly printing '4'. I also have a 10 novi overprinted in red

I was fortunate enough to receive this poster from a friendly postmaster in Oxford. Some years later I managed to get hold of the Welsh version

Issued on 3 September 1985 with a theme 'Arthurian Legends' this First Day Cover is of interest to me because it commemorates 'Le Morte D'Arthur', first published in a printed edition in 1485 by William Caxton. Even more exiting for me is the postmark - CAXTON in Cambridgeshire.

No harm, no foul; it is all good in my books and, I, for one, appreciate the update. In case one is interested, here is a copy of a block with the printing error.
400th Anniversary of Introduction of Printing into Montenegro. Stamps of late issue overprinted "PROSLAVA / 1893 / STAMPARIJE 1493" (Cyrillic) in black. 2n yellow, perf 10 1/2, THIRD SETTING OF OVERPRINT. Mint block of four, with typical position, "t" instead of "4" in 1493, (pos 19, top right stamp).
Source: Auktionshaus Gärtner's. Auction nº 43: 7th, 8th & 18th - 22nd February 2019, Bietigheim-Bissingen, Germany: Auktionshaus Gärtner, 2019 Lot nº 18139.
Not sure what Maestro Gutenberg would think of such an error...
Have fun and happy collecting!
N.B. It would appear that there are multiple printings associated with these overprints.

I would take issue with the description - "t" instead of "4" in 1493 '. It is clear to me that it is a damaged figure 4 and many a letterpress compositor/printer would agree. It is purely academic now as the auction has taken place, but someone may have bid on the stamp on that basis.

Agreed stampsmurf , I took it clearly as something, 'lost in translation' as clearly it is a damaged '4' and not a replacement. To be sure, one would have to read the catalogue listing in the original German language... Have fun and happy collecting!

In 1941, the Polish Government-in-Exile (in London) began issuing postage stamps for use on letters and packages posted from Polish warships and merchant vessels to countries of the British Empire, the Coalition and neutral countries (with the exception of Sweden). This particular stamp was issued on 1 September 1943

On a humourous note..........Issued on 2 November 1989 (Antigua and Barbuda). Interestingly this stamp also shows a stamp issued on 25 February 1959 celebrating a decade of Postal Activities in Israel which shows, in the background, a printer at a stamp printing press.
