What I collect: Germany in all its facets since 1871 (especially German Reich used including postal statinoneries, used), USSR, Austria, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Liechtenstein, Denmark, France. I design all album pages for my collection myself and partly make them available to the general public for use.

Those who design their own stamp albums need, among other things, information about the exact size of the individual stamps. A problem this is at least for such stamps, which one does not have yet in the own collection... Colnect is a great help here, but not consistently, and sometimes with errors. At least for collectors of German stamps, there is a good source of information also on the sizes of stamp issues: Lighthouse/Leuchtturm-Verlag, which is known for its stamp albums, also publishes a stamp catalog annually in Germany, which for almost all German stamps and likewise almost error-free names their size besides other information like issue date or perforation. This is the "DNK Deutschland Briefmarken-Katalog". "DNK" is the abbreviation for the former name of the catalog: " Deutscher Netto- Katalog". The prices given for stamps are somewhat lower than in the Michel catalog (hence "Netto"). The Michel numbering system is used. Here the title page and the back page (with ISBN!) of the current edition and a sample page from the catalog. The sizes (in millimeters) are named in brackets in each case.

Thank you for the brief introduction to this catalogue. I had seen it listed on the Nordfrim website, but knew nothing about it. It's fairly inexpensive as stamp catalogues go, and the sizing data is a nice inclusion. I may pick one up.

(circa $50) Stamp sizes for the ENTIRE WORLD The sizes shown are such the borders are hidden when stamp mounts are used you may add, or take away (mm) to suit your desired box size?

Of course! But maybe also consider downloading the finished album pages from Clive's download page for free? There are (for a growing number of countries) also all necessary size information included (maybe a little error here and there, but that can also be the case with William Steiner's pages...), and the .txt documents can be customized with AlbumEasy to your own needs much easier than modifying the PDF pages from William Steiner (of which I also have numerous...).

Rod,
I have used my Steiner files to determine box sizes using LibreOffice Draw. I have come to prefer a layout that shows the various classes of postage in a more chronological order as opposed to Scott's choice to keep them separate. When I have a Gibbons regional catalogue available I use it as a guide. In a pinch I can also follow the Michel ordering. For long-running definitive sets, I find it appealing to be able to see them split up and ordered in the way they were originally released. I've been toying with the idea of creating pages for certain definitive sets in AlbumEasy. For series that span a long enough period of time, you can get fairly involved if perf or paper variations (including fluorescence and phosphorescence) come into play. And the little buggers tend to really pile up when buying off paper mixes.

If you open a Steiner page in LibreOffice Draw or similar program, you can inspect the box properties to get an exact number then subtract the border space (believe he allowed 2.5 mm on each side).

Of course there are several means to get the size of stamps. I just wanted to give a hint especially for collectors of German stamps, nothing more and nothing less...

I have encountered too many size-errors in Steiner's album pages to count. So, don't be too confident in his measurements
