These have been mentioned in another thread but I purchased a cheap lot and thought that they should have their own thread. Many of the stamps are self-adhesive and they are of varying quality. These first two sheets, mint and special cancelled 9th November 2004, are from Briefservice Muldental and honour Wilhelm Ostwald (1853-1932), Nobel Prize winning German chemist.

From Ridas-Post, five attractive covers for their sailing ships stamps. Plus some mint singles. It's difficult to find out much information about these companies and many don't seem to exist anymore. danielDaniel, do these lovely covers, have information slips, inside, by any chance? I'd be really keen to have detail information on the ships.

Regarding these issues, we have several contributors at Colnect who collect these, so we have a very extensive listing representing over 150 different services, with over 16000 different items listed. They are located as a subgroup within the Federal Republic issues. colnect.com/en/stamps/series/country/529-Germany_Modern_Private_Post_OfficesDelcampe and Amazon.de are probably the best sources for items, and there are some sales and trade listings on Colnect for these.

Thanks George, the links should prove useful. I managed to find a copy of the Michel catalogue at a reasonable price and have ordered a copy but it is quite old , 2006. Daniel

ASD (Auer Sicherheits- und Diensleistungs GmbH) private letter service in the Ore Mountains(Erzgebirge) ASD started their letter service in 1999 but didn't produce stamps until 2004 when they produced 5 stamps depicting mining facilities in the Ore Mountains. Showing a souvenir card for Bad Schlema, a community in the district of Erzgebirgskreis, with 2 stamps and a first day cover with the full set of 5 stamps. In 2005, 2 more stamps were added. Showing a souvenir card and the 2 pairs of the stamps.

This is the Michel catalogue for these stamps. Published in 2006, I assume it didn't get to a second edition. However, it looks like most of my collection are included in this volume.

daniel, I think I posted the stamps of the private post office "Hessischer Postvertrieb" in another thread. I think it is Michel #12, issued on March 22, 2000: It is interesting that at the bottom of the minisheet the area of validity is mentioned - Zip code 35. I am curious if the Michel catalog mentions the period and area (if applicable) of validity.

I am curious if the Michel catalog mentions the period and area (if applicable) of validity. The "Hessische Postvertrieb" was only active for a very short time. It was founded in June 1999 and the first letters were delivered on April 3, 2000. It went bankrupt on June 1 2001. This means that the period of validity can be limited to this period. Zip code area 35 is a region north of Frankfurt am Main (see picture). Perhaps well-known cities there are Gießen and Marburg (where I worked at the university for a few years).

For HPV the town is Giessen, spelled Gießen in German, in the German state Bundesland of Hesse. There were 5 stamp issues from 2000 up to 2001. I have stamps and covers which I'll show in a new post. Thank you daniel, rednaxela, it seems to me a good organization, typical Michel. In Michel specialized Germany at the end of the description of a stamp issue appears..."gültig bis XX.XX.YEAR." Does this mention also appear in this catalog?

Does this mention also appear in this catalog? George, I can see what you mean from another Michel catalogue that I have but there is no such information like that in the Modern Private Posts catalogue. Your sheet was from the final stamps issued on 22nd March 2001 and was one of two values. According to Michel, the company ceased trading on 31st December 2002. Daniel
