A fun and interesting niche in my collection is "when production goes wrong" This part of my collection shows the challenges Thiele's printing house had when producing, mainly bicolored, stamps. While these stamps underwent thorough control upon control there are still examples out there that shows these mishaps making it through. Paper; foreign objects, like grain of sand, wood splinters, hairs, creases and wrinkles. Ink; The ink was made from many different materials, some reacted with surrounding environment, sun, humidity and acidic component in storage (3sk bco yellowgreen). Some mixtures were worse than others, and some could intentionally be altered with chemicals Perforation; The technique had certain flaws, like missing "teeth" incorrect spacing due to gearing malfunction creating "tall or small" stamps or even imperforated. below a few examples from my collection.
