Any ideas as to the identification of the image included with this post would be welcomed. It's a #3a except the color is green on very thin white paper. A non-descript light, black circular cancel is on upper left portion of stamp. Perhaps a color essay? It's not listed in Michel Germany catalog or any help using searches on the computer.

Observation from a Non Specialist The bottom left hand corner. "Deut??" does not start in line with the two dots I can only think, either yours or mine is a forgery (looking at Mi4 I think it may be yours)

The stamp is definitely not the post office released stamps listed in the catalogs -- the background should be continuous. In drjoe's example, the background consists of isolated geometric figures. As pointed out by rod222, the positioning of the "D" with respect to the dots is also off. While this is consistent with a private reprint in the early 1900's, other features of that reprint are not present in your stamp, nor is the color correct. Might it be an essay, a wrapper... I didn't check.

Pretty sure that's a forgery.

Comparing the Inscriptions in the right hand mandrels....... A fairly amateurish attempt methinks.

The lack of lines in the background drawing around 6 is much more obvious.

Thank you all for the input. Well, the consensus thus far is either a poorly executed forgery for whatever reason because the paper, color, lettering central design, etc. wouldn't fool anybody or wasn't meant to do so and perhaps an essay or just fantasy!
