Hi all, I've been going through a backlog of US airmail stamps and found two copies of C23 from 1938 - which exists as a deep blue and a (much rarer) ultramarine variety. I've done what research I can on an unfamiliar area for me, and now thought to query the forum's hive mind. Everything I've seen points to there being many colour variations of the $0.25 C23. However, one common factor for the rare $1,500.00 C23c seems to be the much thinner lines in the shield and background, as well as a clearly differing blue shade. It is (as always) much more likely I have a colour variant of the cheaper one, but wanted to post the two I have here, and ask if anyone with more experience would be willing to cast their thoughts. Thank you! This first one, which is a definite C23: The undetermined one, which I am considering to be a possible C23c:

Thanks rod222 - that was one of the first links I also found and read. Thank you also René renden - I saw your post on that forum as well, as well as a few others. It was your images which made me think it is likely I have a C23c variant. I guess I should start thinking about getting this one expertized...
