I found something I think is pretty interesting earlier today while I was I.D.ing a few 1¢ Washington's. I believe that I found an example of over inking and a pretty pronounced smear on this Scott #498. (The one on the left)
Notice in the "O" & "S" in POSTAGE and down the right in the laurel leaves also ih Washington's hair & field behind his head. The whole frame looks a bit ragged.
Here is a close-up @1200 d.p.i. ~ (I darkened the image up a little so you can see it a bit better)

Very cool... I love this kind of stuff
Are you positive they are engraved stamps? Hard to tell from the scan but you may have some postal forgeries..... they don't appear the correct color to be #525 offset

I'm positive! They're legit. Though no premium is attached still they're neat.

I don't actively pursue EFO's but when the offer is too good, I don't refuse..... much more of my US is flawed (production faults) than not

I found them in a box lot a few years ago. I don't collect or purchase EFO's either but this sat in my collection for awhile before I decided to ID it and whilst "fly-specking" I noticed all the extra ink. So I thought I'd post my exotic find of the day! lol

I'm not sure fly-specking would be the correct term here, you can spot that freak across the room......... beauty
