Here's something that just happened to turn up in my collection. I'm not a cover collector and don't actively look for them, and I don't even recall how I came across this. Undoubtedly it was part of a Great Britain collection, and this small, ugly, stained and wrinkled cover wouldn't have been anything I would want to keep. That is, until I turned it over and found a second impression on the back side! It's still ugly but it's a special kind of ugly. Ryan

(56Km away) The cover addressed to Wynne Tigue, Chemist. His Chemist shop designed by Octavius Ralling www.exetermemories.co.uk/em/_people/rallings.phpFriday 24th April 1942, Tigue Chemist was probably destroyed by the Exeter Blitz , reported on fire......... "I went back to Gandy Street and entered the High Street by Timothy Whites. Colsons, and Bobby's were on fire, almost burnt out. I crossed the road by Martins Bank and went down Martins Lane, where Wynne Tighe Chemists was on fire. www.exetermemories.co.uk/em/_story/story_12.php

Ryan, not that I would know, but I have a funny feeling your cover, could be quite rare. The "Squared circle" postmark, is "Morchard Bishop" which I have never seen before. The "Postmark Database" is searching for a copy of this postmark, if you can, would you mind sending the webmaster a copy please? If not, can I have your permission to send it on? www.philatelicweb.com/pmks/search.phpHmmm try this, www.philatelicweb.com/pmks/index.phpThanks Rod

49.4 miles away Back in history, your neck of the woods was known as South Wales Your heritage appears to be "100's and 1000's" you have bits from everywhere Morchard Bishop to Barnstaple is just 27 miles

The "Postmark Database" is searching for a copy of this postmark, if you can, would you mind sending the webmaster a copy please? I've sent a scan to the database - thanks very much for the heads up, I like helping out with online projects like that. I had a look in my 1993 copy of "Collect British Postmarks" and it's not such a dreadfully rare postmark, only valued at £3. I would guess the second impression on the back flap might bump it up a pound or two, though ... Ryan

Here's a bump to an old thread- I found this today among some US cut (mostly torn) postal stationery stamps. I have little info on the postal stationery- This is the same embossed one penny as on Ryan 's cover above. Any identification regarding it? In circulation until QV passed away?

I've gotten into GB postal history and find it fascinating with all the postmarks and rates, especially the international ones. You can even find out the boat sometimes the mail was carried on by the date. A very cool area.
