Today I was looking through my singles which I haven't done to often recently and had noticed an area (quite a few actually) that need some attention paid. I might have to upgrade these soon. #34?,#35,#36,#37,#38 Here is just some random spares and proofs I have on a display card stuffed in there. (that 10¢ one is a double paper variety)

Just like these ones "No rhyme or Reason" they're just in display cards I don't know what to do with them yet?

Like this poor devil here. It's a Scott #239 mint. It's gum is nearly post office perfect but I really only collect used so it's sort of "homeless" right now. I guess "stamp orphans" would have been a better title huh? It's almost too good for my ragged little band of paper presidents and scenery like this....

I was afraid to peel it at all. It was either bent/creased at one point or in a thread bundle (if your an old timer you might remember tying stamps together with thread- yikes!) but I seen it starting to separate and I could find no mention of it in my then scant library. So there it sits. Maybe I'm unclear in your message? Is it that they only exist on the two and 3 cent stamps or can they exist in other denominations as well? I very well could have just mis-ID' it, but the paper is just so much brighter and thicker than all of the others I've seen it was just an oddity I put aside until later. -now I guess huh? -Jeff EDIT: we was discussing picassa3 and resolution so I thought I would re-visit this topic as well..

ILS would you want to sell this one or trade it for something used? I collect mint and don't have this one new or usued. I would be willing to give it a home so it would no longer be an orphan. IF? Yikes is Correct! I've even seen a few of those bundles, very early ebay, I saw a few lots of those bundles. The Continental double paper exists on most of the values, the 12 cent and the 90 cent have not been found on double paper. Continental also printed seven of the departmentals on this double paper. The 3c, 24c, & 90c Post Office, the 3c State, the 3c, 10c, and 90c Treasury.

Maybe it's just an odd paper then because it just looks too odd to be a normal paper type? Maybe I could mail it to you to have a look? I would be quite curious to find out what it is exactly? Scott number is an easy one on these just from the marks on the design so that's sort of a no-brainer (Scott #150 hard white paper) but may be helpful in determining what the secret story (if there is any) behind this odd one? Watch it'll just be something stupid that I overlooked..lol Maybe it's just on the "thicker side" of the "thin to thick white wove parer"? in that notation in scotts? In my defense however I have had this in my possession long before I versed myself in the Large Banknotes.. Contact me vie email with your address and such if you would be interested to examine it? -Jeff You still may, but I think I just solved it below? You know what I'll just scan it at @1200dpi because I am now thinking it's not a double paper but just an over ambitiously washed/bathed standard run-of-the-mill National Banknote Company Scott #150 on very thick hard white paper; Damaged.

[PIC HERE]Jeff you know that there is a nice premium if the stamp is never hinged in my ancient 2007 Scots (TIME TO UPGRADE) puts the stamp at $300 but never hinged $900 Put it on eBay and buy misses ILS a day at the spa Yeah. I know but Tinman needs it and I thought helping a forum member would be better than any big monetary gain. I'll scan the back and put it in this thread. I really must start paying more attention to my notes...Sadly, it does have a hinge and an adherence (on the lower left) but mint just the same...here's the scan..I'm so sorry I thought this was the one with pristine gum...now I feel really stupid. I usually mark mint with - MINT and then add any notations but this had none... Please let me know if you are still interested Tinman. I love swaps so I'm sure we can figure something out to both our likings. -Jeff
Stamp: (scan @1200dpi resolution)The stamps I need (used and need not be in pristine condition just sound will do) is Scott #151, Scott #153, Scott #154, Scott #160 & Scott #165. Of course not all of them but maybe a combination of a couple of them; just good used examples would tickle my fancy...Again I am very laid back and money isn't why I collect, so filling any gaps in my collection is just exhilarating to me. Those was just some ideas anyway and not restricted to the banknotes as I have others that I need too. Here are a few- Scott #256, #257, #259, #275, #276, #276A, #277 small Banknotes. Again just a few that I need if it helps any. Here is a few more I need (imperfs) Scott #368, #371, #373. Also, I only really collect postally used stamps. -Jeff

Do you think I could get a $100. out of it in light of all the new details? It would seem that I can't any checks cashed that was donated to me because my picture ID has expired. I need to take a bus to Lock Haven, Pa. from Clearfield to see my primary Physician and it costs a bit over $50.00 to do so. I just don't have it in my own Bank account sadly and less than a week of medication left so selling this may be my only option. Sorry I was thinking out loud but that's the extent of things on my end. I sure hope brighter days lay ahead.. Sorry for rambling on...

I actually might have this figured out as I contacted my church and they are just simply going to re-issue the checks in my Wife's name. It was just heartbreaking to go into town to the bank and have some teller tell me that my picture ID has expired two days prior..I even had the update card but it of course don't have a picture on it...GRRRR It's not like I stop being me because a date on my ID card expired you know? I have not heard back from them yet though...I hope the respond before I have to go see mt doc. I must apologize for venting but I have a lot on my plate and it isn't fair to "dump" on you good folk. I'll keep my thoughts to myself or at least in the correct posting section from now on. Very respectfully -Jeff

Thats very irritating, when your bank refuses to believe you are you because your picture id is two days expired. Thats why I prefer small town branch offices, I know every one in my branch office and they all know me. No matter how old my photo id is.

I live in a small town but I'm not from here so they have to be skeptical I suppose? I even had my update card but it just didn't have m picture on it? I even showed them my voter registration card which is also a VALID form of ID...so (insert expletive here) frustrated!! I hate Clearfield Pa.

I live in a small town and my Bankers at my Bank and tellers at our Credit Union know me by name. I have not had to show my ID in our town in Ten or twelve years. The Pharmacist knows me by name to. The only dis-advantage of living in a small town is the limited choices.

I was looking around the forum for a nice stamp for the maybe upcoming contest and I thought I would re-visit this topic. I got my stamp that I was looking around for and I was re-reading through it and coincidentally- just yesterday- I had yet another run-in with the local banks...I can't win...ha-ha! I just yesterday acquired my up-to-date driver's license and now they won't cash a personal check (from a high profile person too who they was also skeptical of??) because I either must have an account with them (or start one with a hundred bucks) or, it must be drawn on their bank? Isn't that against what a bank stands for or possibly even marginally illegal? Phooey on them anyway! Back to stamp related material a good cover contest might also be fun...I'll have to mention it to Jack. meanwhile here is my U.S. Scott #77 to look at. Not perfect, but I like it.

Chequing is becoming phased out in banking now, Jeff. Electronic banking is the go, smooth as silk, and one can do it from the comfort of your stamp desk.

That's all I use anymore but a friend sent me a check over Christmas time so I could use a little bit here and there so that's why I was thought to stop that day...I should have known better I guess? We have huge stores here called Walmarts (not sure if they've made it to Australia yet?) that will cash it for me.

Very similar thing happened years ago.I was seventeen and doing a lot of out of town work with small crew running jack hammers and such.We were working around 100 miles from home with fresh pay checks in our pockets.Lunchtime came and we headed to the bank that refused to cash our checks.I had an Iowa farm boy on my crew that was probably one of the biggest boys you ever saw.I managed to get in to see the branch manager who started out telling us NO.My muscle man came over and towered behind me and suddenly the manager changed his mind.We got our lunch.

I would have liked to have been a fly on the wall there that day! So did Tin Man ever buy that 239 from you? I only collect US. Mint only after 1900, and cancelled or mint 19th century. I buy and sell in various locations on the internet. Thanks, Rich James
