Besides printed on liso paper (unsurfaced) some of these stamps were also printed on esmalte paper (good quality and calandered) and porcelana (good quality with a chalky surface). There were more 12x11.5 than 15x14 printed on these special papers. It must be noted that both qualities disappear if the stamp is soaked, for example, to remove it from piece. So, please, if you should find any of these 1912-31 issues on piece, keep them that way otherwise they become ordinary issues - there's no other way of telling the difference once they have been exposed to water.
I have the Simões-Ferreira list of papers in Portuguese which I never bothered translating for myself. As soon as I have time I shall translate the list and post it .... hoping it helps someone.
