1913 -1917 Definitive Issue: King George V (Sc#75-84/#85-87)
Scott # 77(1917)
Scott #87(1915) In 1915 an overprint with a Moire violet pattern was applied to the 1c, 2, and 5c issues so the stamps could be invalidated if they fell into enemy hands.

The moire overprint is quite peculiar. Nice to see it in high-res, even my eyes can see the pattern more clearly. I like it!

A WWII patriotic cover from British Honduras:
Picked this up on a whim and just now noticed that GRAPEFRUIT are included in the listings of products on the 4-pence stamp. The rubber stamp address is not to my liking as such addresses scream "philatelic" which to me reduces the cover value to a third or so of a legitimate commercial cover.

Great White Fleet UNITED FRUIT COMPANY
Endorsed Mailed in Belize British Honduras and PAQUEBOT Processed through NEW ORLEANS 1934
The UFC was a major shipper of fruits from Central and South America. It also provided passenger berths on their ships.
This will find a spot in my Oranges Philately collection, just where, I don't yet know.
I just now noticed PAQUEBOT is mispelled PAGUEBOT.

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

I finally was able to find a nice copy of the $5.00 value to complete this 1938 George VI set. Especially glad to find it used. JeffS I see you have the 4 cents on a cover for your citrus collection. I am not sure you were aware that the 5 cents features grapefruit.

A question from today's arrivals. I am using a 2000 Scott Classics Specialized Catalogue and only refers to these stamps as a #45. The place I bought this pair called one a 45 and the other 45a. There is a visible difference so I am wondering if some one has a newer Scott catalogue that may describe the difference. Possibly Stanley Gibbons may show multiple shades. They are not important stamps but I needed an example. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for your post, Hugh ( hdm1950 ), and thanks for the info from Colnect, Terri ( philatelia ). Terri's info tells the story, Hugh, but just in case you want to see it in black and white from Scott, here is an excerpt from the 2021 Scott Classic Specialized Catalogue 1840-1940: Scott also indicates a color variety for 45a versus 45, with orange in place of the yellow. For the case of your two stamps, to be honest, both look rather orange to me, with the one on the right being more orange. But looking at the Colnect image supplied by Terri, that stamp looks quite yellow, and not much like either one of yours. It is so difficult to tell colors from digital images, isn't it? So much depends on the image itself as well as the display on which it is viewed, not to mention our individual perceptions of color.... sigh. Just my opinion, of course, and others are welcome to offer theirs!

Thanks Chris ( Beryllium Guy). That is the information I was looking for. In real life my stamp on the left does lean to yellow (45) and the one on the right leans orange (45a). If I ever stumble on one that looks like the Colnect posting I can sell off the less orange of my two. Safe travels home for Amy and you.

I just took this photo of the 2 Scott 45’s with my iPhone in natural light and this gives a better real time image showing the one on the left being more yellow. Still not the lemon yellow of the Colnect image.

yellow, or some shade thereof, is one of the most difficult colours, not just for photography, but also for enabling the viewer to realize the naked eye details of the design they're looking at. Whether it's a lack of definition or that the human eye has a problem with yellows I'm unsure - the lemon from philatelia is going in that direction, and that's good compared with some yellow stamps I see where detail is illegible. Yellow also has a habit of photographing as some shade of orange, as in the attached N.Z. 2d. stamp quoted by SG as 'yellow', and despite the quality of a Leica lens.
