What I collect: If I have a catalogue for it, I collect it. And I have many catalogues ....

You might know that I'm involved in the winter sport of skeleton (one person head first on a sled down a bobsleigh track). One of our local sliders competes for Switzerland and her new sled looks familiar to those of us who know about old classic stamps! Ryan

Hi Ryan
For those who do not know you should post some of the videos you had sent me. At least it will show people how scary this is.
BTW, who influenced who to compete in this sport, you influenced Melissa, Melissa influenced you or you both decided independently?

BTW, who influenced who to compete in this sport, you influenced Melissa, Melissa influenced you or you both decided independently? Scary is a relative term - I look at those guys doing 5 flippity flips in the air on their skis and I think that's scary - they look at what we do and they think that's scary ... I came first - Mellisa's a much younger pup than I am and although she started when she was 15, I had already been at it for a few years. Here's a look at how things work out sometimes (you have to click through to the YouTube site to watch this), a little bit wild but this Romanian slider still made it down to the bottom. Make sure you wait for the replays to see the rodeo footage in all its slow-motion detail! ha ha Romania is one of the very few nations to have issued a skeleton stamp, in commemoration of this event (2010 Winter Olympics) - you would think there would be more, but I sure haven't found any. If you continue watching through to the end, you'll see Mellisa falling out of the silver medal spot. Sometimes things don't go as planned. Oh well. ** edit - the forced click-through means the link loses its correct timestamp - go to 42 minutes, 48 seconds ... Ryan

Hi Ryan Every time I watch one of the videos I am more convinced that you people are nuts to do this. I also did "flippity flips" in the air when I was skiing (many years ago) but, alas, it was involuntary When I was a kid in Maine we used to go to a local store and get the discarded round Coca-Cola signs. We used those to go "sledding", worked real well. I, guess in a way, it is what you do, albeit slower. Jerry B
