I see there are several different of these, which I believe were issued in the 1976-1981 period. This is not something I normally collect but they sure looked good. Here is a link to a wikipedia article on Postage stamps and postal history of Guam which does summarize some of the Guam Guard history. Theron.

Intrigued at two very different SMS Cormoran . En route from New Guinea to a rebellion in Samoa one version which I believe is the 10 rose red, she hit a reef and had to divert to Sydney for repairs before taking up station in Apia Samoa.
There were six unprotected cruisers in the class, Bussard,( Buzzard) Falke (Falcon);and Cormoran (Cormorant)all did duty in Samoa.
the other sister ships were Seeadler( sea eagle) Geir ( vulture) and Condor
I’d really love to find that rose red example with the single funnel as she must be the 1880s version.

Managed to find the Unprotected German light Cruiser SMS Cormoran on eBay at an affordable price. The earlier ship not the yellow illustration above. The shippping charge would have been 3x the price of the stamp until I protested and it was reduced to a respectable $2 postage
