The following four items are going into stock, but in the intrest of sharing information, I thought the details were worth recording here for all those intrested to see .... In 1965 the Middlesex federation exhibition was to be held in Finchley The first stage was to design a postmark that would be used on items at the exhibition and get this ready for use .... A mock-up was made on a plain envelope with a previously used stamp affixed and the hand drawn postmark cut out on tracing paper and affixed into possition Item 1 below [Moderator edit - image links are broken and irretrievable]The printers returned a proof impression in black and a series of ammendments were noted to be made to the final handstamp Item 2 below The alterations were made and a final set of test impressions, this time in violet as issued, were made Item 3 below In this final state, the handstamp was used at the exhibition A unique little piece of London Postal History that shows the basic steps taken by some members to get a philatelic handstamp into operation at a local exhibition
Hope this is of intrest to some here ....
