I don't collect first day covers. I've said it before and I'll say it again. But I do tend to accumulate those that I think are interesting. That said, I found this today while at the 'dealer' around the corner from work where I buy my supplies. He rarely has anything I want philatelic, but his supplies are dirt cheap! Place looks like a hoarder's delight. I saw this sitting on top of a pile of stamps in an open box. Kinda neat, so why not! It's a 1947 First Day Cover publish by the Slingsby Manufacturing Comp. of Brantford Ont., the city where Bell invented the telephone (I know Boston disagrees!). Slingsby was a local woollen goods manufacturer. Front... Back... Letter found inside. This cover was featured in a write-up about Bell covers by Gary Dickenson, which can be found here online. www.kgvi.ca/docs/1947_AGB_pt1.pdfThis cover appears on page 9.

I wonder if these two are connected? Slingsby Trucks of Great Britain. In 2009 I sent an image of this Cinderella to the Manager and he wrote back

Better late than never. This Slingsby was a manufacturer of woollen products like bed and horse blankets, yarn and cloth. And here's my newly minted album page
