Is it safe to assume that you are a frequent contributor to this award-winning publication?

Is it safe to assume that you are a frequent contributor to this award-winning publication? As it turns out, Steve, I am afraid not. I am of the "mere" status, mere male, mere collector, there are gals /guys out there who make it their life's work, Dave Elsmore comes to mind, mind boggling library of work Revenues and Cinderellas. We have our own Londonbus 1 and the new upcoming James with a growing list of paper parafernalia.

Hear Ye! Hear Ye! calling all Australian Cinderellas, wanted here. A new Australian Catalogue is being prepared, and you can assist. A member of my Cinderella Club is preparing a Catalogue Hopefully we can assist like we did with the Canada Field Guide Post your scans here, if any, and we can benefit here, and with the Catalogue if it gets up and running. I shall email Vito, and ask him to pop in here occaisionally, to pick up the scans

I don't have a lot in the way of Aussie cindys, but this one found it's way into my possession today. Hi James, was it built (this beautiful Gothic architecture) by any of your kin ? ................................... In his headquarters for the new English, Scottish and Australian Bank, goldrush immigrant William Wardell created what experts later acclaimed as the finest Gothic Revival building in Australia, with its iron columns and gilded heraldic decoration. General manager George Verdon lived like a Venetian magnate in a private suite above his new bank. Sally Ruljancich www.egold.net.au/biogs/EG00065b.htm

Ha! What are the odds? My kin came to Canada via the US after the Revolution (Loyalists) and they were in the Colonies for about a hundred years before that. In fact, one, an uncle (X many greats) was hung as a witch in Salem in 1692! If Wm Wardell is a relative, he is very distant. Literally in the other direction.

The Universal Postal Union celebrated their centenary in 1974. Australia issued this sheetlet of Labels to commemorate the event and their National Stamp Week in October of that year.
A Souvenir sheet of one Imperf label with inscriptions was also issued.

Those Nurse Clara Maass' on the cover of the Cinderella magazine are hardly Australian, but I guess philately knows know boundaries. ...well actually, I guess it's ALL about boundaries, but that's beside the point. I'll have to dig out that issue, and find out the reference James. Update: Part of a Christmas tribute to Clara Maas, and a collaboration between Mr. Arthur Groten (US) and Marilyn Gendek A 2 page article, of which this is one. Nice to share Cinderella Journalism with those across the sea. With Cinderellas, I think the only boundaries we have, are there so we can find stuff.

I have 7 blocks of these in total ranging from 1945 (the first year of issue) until 1950. I know, that doesn't add up. There are two blocks from 1947, one imperf.
I did show them on SCF. I'll post here, but in the more appropriate US section...at a later time.

René, thanks for reviving this thread! That is one beautiful souvenir sheet--I like it very much. I hope you will favor us with more! Well, I am absolutely no authority on the subject, but personally, I think I would classify this item as a Cinderella. We can certainly look to Michael ( Londonbus1) for an opinion with a bit more expertise behind it.... Regardless of how it is classified, it is a beautiful item, and I really appreciate your sharing it! -Chris

The long running magazine 'Stamp News Australasian' produced these in 2000-2005 as free gifts to their subscribers.

In my Cinderella collection I have an album of reproductions and forgeries. I try to seperate the two. One of these sheets sits in that album. They are attractive but I do not go after them specifically, just when I find something for a very good price or as part of a mix or lot that I have purchased. I can imagaine there are many collectors who have these in their Aussie collection as part of the 'Back of Book'. I don't collect Postage stamps so it does not apply to me. One must make one's choices ! What a great hobby.

P.S. Beryllium Guy should know that I am only an expert on one thing. I could find my way from his apartment in Aix to the Stamp Dealer table at the thrice-weekly market.........with my eyes closed. I am sure that's what he was referring to !!

I recall seeing this Cinderella on an Australian cover sent through the mails around the 1940's....the online auction price was quite a bit more than I wanted to pay! So I spent considerably less for the unused label when I found it in a dealer's album last month (Thank you Rusty!)
