What I collect: If I have a catalogue for it, I collect it. And I have many catalogues ....

Here's something out of the ordinary from what I normally find in my piles of stuff. I can't claim to have any great knowledge of this one - Indian states can be notoriously difficult to catalogue and, of course, there is always the problem of potential forgeries. Be that as it may, this looks to me like an 1877 reprint (for use in Jammu only), printed in oil colours on native laid paper. The denomination on this is 1 anna. It's definitely not a watercolour printing (note to inveterate soakers - don't soak watercolour printings!). The ink has a remarkable three-dimensional character to it, it's laid on very thick and rises above the paper like paint where it's thickest (the thick spots are those with the darkest colour). Some people really like the old uglies, I take a somewhat egalitarian view and am always happy to find something I didn't have before, ugly or not. I always say, if I have a catalogue for it, I collect it .... (Of course, all the above may be a load of tripe - who knows, somebody might have carved a potato and blobbed some blue paint on the end of it, Stamp Forgeries R Us.) Ryan

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

Lots of quite primitive stamps among the Native Feudatory States. This stamp appears to be a lower left corner of a Jammu & Kashmir 1886-94 1/4 Anna brown sheet (Scott 122) but the 1 in the corner confuses me. I am guessing it is part of the salvage edge but full sheets of other values do not have anything like that. According to my Scott Classics proofs and forgeries exist.
