With the single, thick line between the top tablet and the main tablet, I don't believe they are forgeries. Reprints may be highly likely, but I'm guessing that they are not forgeries. I don't know if it is correct to say that you never see guide lines on forgeries, but I have an unattributed note to that effect.

Great scan to show the spotting feature. Here they are side by side. The difference between the thick line and the two thin lines is very noticeable, when you know what to look for.

Thanks CS. With King George the Right Top Frame has a double line on the Right for Genuine and Reprints Forgeries have 1 line What we need to do to isolate reprints, is for a member here to post a 600dpi scan of any King George Imperf, Imperforates are reprints. We can then toggle the images to see how they differ, and if we can isolate differences if there has been private perforations. Later.......... Apparently, all the reprints (imperforate) are backstamped? www.dcstamps.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/AEG-Crete-Theriso-Revolution-Album.pdf

I just noted this thread I will post a short article on early Crete forgeries of postal approved issues in a few days and next week I will do the short 1905 Revolutionary series The biggest issue with forgeries is trying to get samples of the different forgeries, "reprints" etc. and Crete is no exception particularly since one of the reprints (forgeries) were made by the original printers Grundman & Stangel and are quite difficult to distinguish. From what I gather, paper colour is the main focus. White for genuine, toned or brownish for the reprints?

I think that's right. Thin, white for genuine, and yellowish for reprints. Perhaps.
I'm pretty comfortable with the forgery i.d., but I would not be comfortable telling someone whether theirs were originals or reprints.

Crete - Forgeries under British Administration - 1898-99 posted at the link below ForgeriesI stumbled across these stamps in an old envelope of unsorted material, and was initially stumped as to their identity, as they are not listed in Scott. Well, once again, thanks to TSF, I was able to find lots of helpful info about these on this thread. From what I have read, it appears that mine are forgeries of the unissued stamps from the 1905 Crete Revolutionary Issue. @falshung, I realize that it's old, so perhaps not current, but when I tried to follow the link in your post from 25-Dec-2015, it didn't work. The link from classicalstamps did work, so I was able to find more info there.
