I'm looking to add a White Plains souvenier sheet to my collection
I see big variances in pricing (low $200 to almost $500, not to mention some first day cancels....) and I'm hard pressed to see how one is better/worse than the next...
what should I be looking for beyond well centered, no tears, large margins-left/top/bottom.right??? some look "whiter, while others have a more yellowish (margins) appearance.... and this could be photo adjusted I suppose
Thanks for everyones opinions

The price does vary but does not mean lower priced ones are always inferior. Some dealers like to stick closer to catalog value while you can find it cheaper on ebay as it seems to be more like a commodity. I have seen dealers with many copies so I do not feel it is rare as some want to price it.
The condition varies a lot and judging centering can be very subjective since it is a sheet of stamps so the individual stamp centering will vary on the sheet. Some are definitely fresher looking than others. The one in my collection is the not the best (decent centering but has cracked gum). I suspect many have spend years under a dealer's showcase glass and age prematurely.
If you are patient you can likely find a nice sample at a decent price.

For this and others you can also try auctions - safer than an eBay purchase - just check if any additional fees are included. US stamps are usually in demand but you can sometimes get lucky. Once you register with the network, you do a search, register one time with the auction firm and the rest is simple, you can bid on live time, set your limit etc. All the major auction houses list on this network. Right now a quick check shows that 5 places are offering the White Plains BTW - $300-500 is ridiculous - I would not bid more than $150 unless desperate.

Thank you nl1947 years ago (many) I bought some stamps at a sealed bid "stamp & coin faire" so the auction sounds like a good option. And thanks for the price recommendation!
