Are these labels collectible? Should I save these for Machin collecting trading friends or treat them as meters? Thanks for your advice.

These Horizon labels are collectible for Machin specialists, yes. I can't call myself a specialist but I own a Deegam Handbook - these labels are listed in there and because of that, I collect (or accumulate) them! Here's a snip from a relatively recent Deegam Report. Ryan

Thanks so much, Ryan , that is very helpful information! So these are much more than “meters.” I think I’ll leave these on the covers unless they are too bulky. I leave quite a bit on cover these days.

I have just begun with machin's, but those labels? I'll pass on them. Just give me real stamps, preferably with the water activated gum!

I would tend to agree with you, Pete. brightonpete I can’t seem to work up much enthusiasm for post and go type labels, even the Irish SOARs - ie - Stamps on a Roll. Some Irish collectors love them because you can garner so much information from the codes. Trying to find one from each machine location is a popular new fad. Me? Well I just keep tossing them in envelopes separated by design type, but that’s it.

Stamps on a roll. Is that like "coils" over here in North America? Codes from each machine? Wow, one pair would be enough for me, from any machine! That's just getting way too specific for me!

I do not collect these as I have tried to limit my collection so I can work on many interests. If I had more time and space I would have them in my collection.

Exactly that - codes for each machine! I searched our site and we have a bit of info on SOARs from a while back. That would be a good project for me - write up a bit more info on these. In in the meantime, here is a discussion on the stamp community. www.stampcommunity.org/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=69944&whichpage=1

I don't collect GB myself, but I do buy GB kiloware. Very useful for trading. When I used to find these labels I just binned them. However many of my regular trading partners have actually asked me to keep them for them. So there is a demand out there.

Here's a snip from a relatively recent Deegam Report. Ryan I collect Machins to Deegam level 2/3 but I would pass on these. I think they are included in the Deegam hand book due to the Machin head rather than the overall label design. Maybe I'm wrong.

I found the original gold Horizon labels to be quite attractive. (Borrowed image) The original Horizon labels were plain white, then gold changing from pretend perforations to straight sides. and most recently white again with a small Machin head allowing for a barcode.
