[ADMIN Note: Thread "created" from posts made in the Canada's Centennial Definitive Set thread as it diverged from that thread's focus.] I should have one too, as I collected LL plate blocks It would be nice to see how many of our members collect Canada stamps and if they collect the "classics" or the "new ones" - I do both with a limit - Yes ! renden, I have collected Canada for many years. It is probably my strongest collection other than the US, South Korea and Germany with Canada being 2nd in that list after the US. I have set it aside for quite a while, however, while I focus on other countries. The collection that I bought in the fall of last year has quite a number of pre-WWII Canadian stamps and I have seen at least a couple that will fill spaces in my album. It is possible that I will re-visit Canada after my current Chile adventure.

Hi Rene:
I have a collection of Canadian stamps, definitives and commems, beginning with the 1897 Jubilee set, which is not complete, down to the 1970s. I have always thought the Geo V definitives very attractive. It has been several years, however, since I have added to my Canada collection.

René I’m the same as Pete, I collect both, but with a limit. I prefer used singles and not very interested in modern confections like sports card stamps or mint booklets for almost every issue. Just recently decided to try to find used singles for all the booklet positions - imperf left, right, corners etc. And I enjoy hunting for those 6c era issues with imperf edges, too.

renden , I also collect Canada, from the beginning to the 1990s (I have yet to set an exact cutoff date). I prefer the classic era and also prefer mint over used. This is entirely dependent on price, though, as I have so many areas that I’m working on right now that I don’t want to sink too much money into Canada.

Not exactly the right time to "sink" your US$ into Canada or should I say....the right time as our $ is now "pesos"

As I think you know, Rene ( renden), I also collect Canada, officially from beginning to 1930, but I also have quite a few others from the 1930s and 1940s. I won a big auction lot of Canada from Frog ( firstfrog2013) in 2017, which really expanded my classics collection. I already had my set of 1897 QV Jubilees prior to joining TSF, which I completed in 2014-2015, as I recall. That set is my all-time favorite, and the reason why I chose the highest-denomination stamp to use as my avatar.

I do not collect Canada ( renden knows this as I sent all my Canadian stamps to him! although they keep popping up, they are now few and mostly modern). The main reason was I didn't have enough to really serve as a "foundation", where as other countries (GB, Western Europe, etc), I found I possessed quite a few. I have tons of US and UN.... but a year plus after returning to the hobby, what i thought I would focus on remains untouched. I could at some point find myself with a good foundation to bring Canada into my circus tent, but for now I'm neck deep in GB / western Europe

I collect Canada but my collection so far starts with a few KGV issues and mostly complete from 1970 to 1993. I know I mentioned this before but I liked the Canada issues of indigenous Indian populations. The US seems to avoid them.

What I collect: Worldwide - Stamps and Postmarks - not enough time...

Yes indeed, I collect Canada - and love it! What an amazing area to collect, in particular due to Small Queens and all of their printings, varieties and 'mysteries' ! Then there's the iconic Admirals, Centennials and obviously the more difficult imperforated issues of Colony of Canada, the First cents issue, the Large Queens... So many interesting issues, all presenting different challenges, endless joy. Needless to say, Canada also hold some of the most beautiful designs ever made - how can anyone NOT collect Canada ? That's awesome Chris Beryllium Guy - well done I still miss all the $-values except 2$, meaning realistically my set is only about 20% complete compared to yours

I am also missing on the $ QC Jubilees. I note that some are available at 20-25% CV on Eb but specimens are of poor quality. I do envy Chris Beryllium Guy for completing his. Very nice !! René

I inherited my grandfather's Canada collection that included several early pence issues, BC and Vancouver Island, and early Newfoundland. I have been gradually filling in the blanks up to 1952. I have a few more jubilees to go, but first intend to splurge on Prince Albert.
I am more engaged with Newfoundland these days.
As for later issues, I enjoy them, but aside from an occasional stamps of topical interest, I am not actively seeking them out.

I collect Canada. I haven't imposed limits, but I'm kind of weak in more recent stamps. Anyone want to help a brother out with a care package of newer used? LOL

I certainly collect Canadian. Started when I was eight years old. I was extremely fortunate that my grand parents delivered the mail when I was you. They kept me up to date on current issues. When they saw interest foreign stamps on mail, they would leave a note asking for it.
I collect everything . Not that strong on past 2000. It’s a price issue and I find somewhat unattractive or unappealing.
i have an extensive classic collection. My pride and joy is a complete mint Jubliee issue. A very wonderful Christmas present from about ten years ago. I collect both mint and used. Also have extensive NS collection and building my pre confederation colonial issues.
Then I startedgetting into covers from the areas of Nova Scotia where my ancestors settled. An ever expanding hoarde.

Of course I do, Living in Canada meant it was easy to go to the postal outlet in town to buy new issues. Back then, it was only 8¢ to mail a letter in Canada and 15¢ for airmail, considerably more these days. I have a fairly complete collection from 1908 or so through 1992, then I just collect the issues I like. Not much in the way of early Classics though. I just have a few of Vicky's stamps or Edward VII. Some Admiral's - that book is overkill for me! I think most people collect the country they were born in, or now live in...

I went up to 2010 but more complete (early ones) to 2000 - like you I will on occasion buy what interests me. I do have the Admiral Issue book by Marler

I collect up to 1999, been a main focus for the last two years. I'm an "one of each" kind of guy, so consider it complete from post-jubilees, and mostly MNH (of course, that's easy for more modern). Now at the point where upgrading my classic to MNH is getting expensive, so slowed down on that and now now more focused on French colonies. Also collect postal history from my little corner of Southwestern Ontario.

I used to collect Canada on a regular basis and was always trading my extra US for Canada. I haven't done so in a very long time.
