"Who said that you need to enter a contest to consider yourself an exhibitor?"
Here is the challenge to each and every one of you for a one-page exhibition or display project that can posted here in this thread. Although there are no prizes or awards (as of yet) for participating and whether or not you share your final page here or with others, enjoy the process of creating something new and have fun...
Happy collecting!

Is the APS doing a one page exhibit challenge too? The link you provided just goes to the main APS website.
Thanks!

I am not sure Jeff Hayward , the challenge came from reading Tom Fortunato's article "Welcome to The World of Stamp Exhibiting!" which is also a hyperlink and alas I see no date or timeline associated within the article itself. Myself, I liked the idea, thought to share and am working on a couple of ideas; hope to be able to add a page or two here in the coming days... Happy collecting!

They are just like one page articles for the newsletter. Maybe Steve can capture them for the newsletter. I assume the APS APRL has copies of the newsletter.
As an aside. when I was an editor I followed the convention of the previous editor to send copies to several libraries. After our group folded, I received a letter from a library (forget the name) in the UK asking about missing issues.

stanley64 - I really appreciated this post. I learned details about these postmarks that I never noticed. Has anything been published to your knowledge about the postmark without the obliterating bars. I get them occasionally, they seem to have no intention on defacing the postage.

Thanks JeffS ; I enjoyed putting the page together and like you, learned something in process about inkjet postmarks.
More to follow, just need to make heads or tails of USPS technical documentation...
Thanks again for the encouraging words and happy collecting!

Thanks for the USPS link. I've bookmarked it. I haven't looked at the bulletins in a while. In this area I did come across this link for the Machine Cancel group. Looks like you had some input there? www.machinecancel.org/forum/spray_markings_2013/web/Suggestion - how about starting a thread here on US inkjet cancels? (assuming there isn't one here already)

I've been trying to sort out how to use MS word to make exhibit pages. Here is a prototype for a projected exhibit on postmarks of German states. It could stand alone as a one-page exhibit on Thurn and Taxis postmarks of the Thuringian Duchy of Saxe-Meiningen. There are still some glitches but my intent is to make similar pages for each of the German states.

This is an interesting thread. I’ve only ever been to one stamp show with exhibits before, and was totally overwhelmed. But this has me thinking...right now I have mint stamps, used stamps, corner blocks, and FDCs all in separate binders or albums. I just did it that way because that’s how the dealers I knew organized them. But it would be interesting to get everything related to one stamp issue on one double page spread with a bit of a write up. Hmmm...thinking. This would be a massive shift in how I do things, and require considerable outlay for different binders, pages, etc. And lots of time for research. But it would make a much more interesting collection!

Okay, so I’ve decided to try this with my textile collection. I’m wanting to do Canada’s 50 c Textile Industry stamp - #334. However there’s no way it will fit on one page. I spent last night searching online for corner mounts to hold FDCs to pages and something to securely hold corner blocks.
My questions are, how are you folks affixing big items to pages, and where are you buying supplies? I’m in Canada.
I had a fun time researching this stamp and the spinning wheel on it yesterday. I wandered into the history of the textile industry in Canada too.

Hi again, polarbear Check this out... Pritt "On & Off" (link to another post on this forum) I use it to mount cards and FDC's. Seems to work OK. It's supposed to come off easily if needed. So far, everything is where I placed it. Bought it at local office supply store.

For those like polarbear who are looking to dip their toes in the exhibiting ocean, you could take a look at the website for the American Association of Philatelic Exhibitors. For those looking to dive right in and read about exhibiting for a month non-stop, there are over 30 years of issues of The Philatelic Exhibitor, their quarterly journal. I see that this is one of the many publications in which you can find articles written by one of our newest members, jmhstamp! Ryan

Ryan , thanks! Now I have my day’s rabbit hole to go down. I’ve been reading their newsletter. It’s full of great advice and experience! There are things there I would never have thought of. ETA: it’s the WE (Women Exhibitors) newsletter link on the site Ryan posted that I’m reading.

As for mounting larger items, covers, souvenir sheets, etc. I have found that photo corner mounts work the treat. These come under several brand names, e.g. Lineco, Pel, and an internet search with wording such as "clear archival corner mounts" should give you a number of examples to explore further...
Happy collecting!
