French Guinea Yvert 176 and 177. These were issued in 1941 by the Vichy Government in Paris but were never placed on sale in the colony. This letter was cancelled on board the French cruiser Georges Leygues and addressed to a sailor/officer on the cruiser Emile Bertin in Martinique. From Wikipedia,I discovered that the Georges Leyques served both the Vichy Govt and the Allies during WW2.It escaped the destruction of the French flleet in 1940 and spent the next 3 years based in Dakar.

Letters with YT 93 sent from Dalaba and Beyla to a M Emile Establet who worked for PTT...Postes,Telephones et Telecommunications. I have a number of covers addressed to this person,at various locations in the French African colonies. I am also curious to know if the CO marking on the Beyla cover has any significance.

anglobob -- I wonder if the "Co" mark is a wartime censor mark? The only problem is that it's missing all the other indicators of a censored cover such as a label re-sealing the cover. Here's a "Co" mark for French Guinea I did find on one of the my new favorite sites: Antonio Torres
Perhaps it's just an abbreviation for Conakry? EDIT: A check of Cote D'Ivoire covers from the web site above shows a "Do" mark for certain censored covers... antoniotorres.com/cgi-bin/photo.pl?lotcode=529509

These Guinée Française (French Guinea) pages were done today and am sorry to see Sc 142 (60ç drk ultra) missing. In no way do they compete with anglobob 's beautiful pages (with postmarked stamps). I found the Sc 142 on Ebay at 100% CV......did not buy it yet, with shipping and currency exchange ??!!!! None on Hipstamp or D Campe.

rendenRene...wish I had mail service as I could help with this stamp.I know how hard it is to find just one missing item.I have often had to purchase the full set in order to obtain just one missing stamp. There might be some sellers on Delcampe who have the complete set. Anglobb

Another selection of postmarks from various towns ,dating from 1908 to 1940. Postmarks from Benty and Dionodougou are more uncommon. The Dallay catalogue I use has no mention of Ouassou or Friguiagbe.

anglobob and I have posted a lot of French Guinea in this thread. As part of my continuum in French Colonies in Africa, I won these first issues at auction, for "peanuts" and might try to complete the page as I did with Ivory Coast. I enjoy seeing these first issues.
