A new mixed franking arrival today. This time, our usual offender defrauded La Poste in two ways, first by again using Monaco stamps labelled in Francs but overlaid with smaller denomination French stamps to cover the country name, but also by only applying the 20g domestic rate for a letter weighed in at 62g. The first problem was not noticed by the postal clerk even though one can clearly see that each stamp is hand-cancelled, but the overweight envelope did earn an "A Taxer" marking. However, it was delivered to my mail box in my absence nonetheless, so I don't know who, if anyone, will pay the requisite missing postage fee.

Another mixed franking of Monaco stamps masquerading as French ones from our usual offender, showing ever more creativity. This time the stamps and the address label were put on the back on the envelope, so that the closing flap would cover the MONACO markings on the stamps.

Thanks for your post, drbladeI just checked, and this postcard seems to be unused. I am looking for one that has stamps on it from the three kings and postmarked around that time (1937?). Thanks for thinking of me. I am hoping that I might find one of these at the York Fair.

I've seen a few on the internet & they all looked unused @ high prices.

ARCTIC RED RIVER NWT cancels If, like me, you like to play the fun game of "what is that town called now?", you'd be interested to know that Arctic Red River is now known as Tsiigehtchic. Postmarks with the new name do exist but they're tough to come by in kiloware, that for sure - the settlement has never been home to more than 200 people. If you like those "Ice Road Truckers" kinds of TV shows, then head up to Tsiigehtchic and take your car across the Mackenzie River when it's well frozen over! During thaws, a ferry takes you across. What you do for all the other months of the year, when the ice is too thin to be a highway but not thawed enough for the ferry, is unknown to me. Maybe you just hunker down and sit tight for a while ... Ryan

December 1952. Postcard with a mixed franking from Les Escaldes (Andorra) to Arenys de Mar (Catalonia). Mixed frankings were common on that time, due to the lack of issues from the Spanish PO of Andorra. Anyway, it was complicate to get there.
