In 1957 Ecuador produced these stamps for the Galapagos Islands and even though they still state R Del Ecuador in small letters, they are listed as Galapagos Islands numbers 1-6 by Stanley Gibbons (There was one more stamp produced in 1959 for the United Nations). They are very similar to the stamps shown by paleophilatelist in post one in this thread. Scan_20200803 by Daniel, on Flickr

Here's a set of four stamps issued by Great Britain in 1987 to celebrate the tercentenary of Isaac Newton's Principia. That foundational work of theoretical physics is the subject of the first stamp, showing Newton's famous apple; who doesn't love that story? The other stamps are dedicated to Newton's works on planetary motion, optics, and gravity. I admire Newton's contributions to our understanding of the world, and I like how elegantly these stamps represent his subject matter and his titles.

Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel (1784-1846) was a German scientist who made significant contributions to the fields of mathematics and astronomy. The Bessel function was named in honour of him after his death. This German stamp was issued in 1984 on the occasion of his birth bicentenary.

Long-time friends and colleagues, German physicists James Franck (1882 - 1964) and Max Born (1882 - 1970) who happened to be born in the same year were jointly commemorated by one stamp release in 1982. Both of them have won Nobel Prize in Physics separately in 1925 and 1954 for their contributions to quantum physics, and both of them used to work together while teaching at University of Göttingen.
