What I collect: If I have a catalogue for it, I collect it. And I have many catalogues ....

If you have a Scott catalogue, the place to find these stamps is in the quagmire of overprints related to China's occupation by Japan during WWII. These stamps are listed after the Republic of China (Taiwan) and before the People's Republic of China (communist China). In this particular case, the base stamps without overprint are found in the 9N section for Shanghai & Nanking, but with the overprints you'll find them listed in that occupation section under North China - try catalogue numbers 8N91-8N94, from 1944.

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

The second group started as revenue stamps from the Yunnan province. Not sure if the overprints may have changed the use.

I have re-ordered your stamps. The top 2 are overprints for use in Jehol (Rehe) Province (no longer exists). The bottom 2 are overprints for use in Peking (Beijing).

Are these all black and white in reality? I thought I had a couple like the very first two without the overprint and in colour.

I would guess everything got scanned in greyscale. All the stamps are originally in one or more colors.

Are the scans on your computer in color? I was guessing that you unintentionally scanned them in greyscale. If your scans on your computer are in greyscale, then next time you scan, make sure you choose the scan in color option instead of the greyscale option.

Okay. You were right about how I scanned it. Good now. I would tend to believe the first one is either a liberated (Communist) area in China or an occupation stamp. The second I thought was Afghanistan but I saw some India stamps that looked like that. Till I hear back from you guys I will continue to work on the others.

What's the difference between quick and fast? 😉 You're quick and fast. Japanese occupied North China. I suspect this next bunch is Imperial China.

What's the difference between quick and fast? 😉 Quick is when you do what your wife asks immediately. Fast is when you finish it record time (i.e., when she expects the task to be finished). k

Fast is going 4 hours without eating.

Let me first say you guys are incredible. i found everything as you said and put it where they belonged. I can find pictures of the first two but nothing more. I tend to lean toward Spanish civil war or some sort of province or territory. THANK YOU.

Yes, Spanish Civil war local issues. From left to right: -- Las Palmas 1937 (the stamp is either trimmed, or you cropped off parts) -- Alcala -- Toro (Zamora) 1936

The Spanish Civil War locals can be found in the old Galvez (which is still on my "wish list"). While Edifil does have a nicely illustrated Spanish Civil War catalog, I don't think any of those 3 are listed in the 3 volumes that I have.

The 1st is from Hungary… it has had security perforated initials (perfins)to prevent private use The 3rd is emperor Frans Josef of Austria the 15 kreuzer value. 15 Kr The middle one is a revenue stamp from the province of Quebec Canada, which has been used on a document and cancelled on 9 Aout (August) 1891 and signed by the clerk with his initials

René As far as Spanish Civil War stamps are concerned, they require specialised catalogues. Edifil publish no less than 10 different volumes @ 80 euros each that's 800 euros, add in postage and I imagine it would be a minimum of 1,000 euros in total. Who would spend that much to identify a handful of stamps? Also, some of us like a challenge René, we love you but don't be mean
