Moderator Note: This post was originally made in the Canada Centennial thread, but it was moved to its own thread similar to an existing one in the U.S. board, so hopefully it will get a bit more notice here and other members will be able to respond and contribute on the subject.
Just got my hands on those Test Coils that were issues with the 6c orange (468A) and possibly, also with the 6c black (468B). Originally when I bought them I could only see the front face of the strips and the scan was not very good. The first time I had a look at them I immediately noticed the different shades, front and back. There are two that appears to have Dex Gum (and even these two are of different shades) and one with PVA gum. I found a very informative article in the BNA Topics Vol.39 #4, but there are no mention of paper or Gum. Do we have any expert on these Test Coils? Thanks FDI

I just recently started collecting or trying to collect these Canadian test Coils. I am running into some of the same issues with trying to find details about these stamps.
I am a collector of USA Test Coils and Stamps as well.
As you previously mentioned you have seen two types of paper Dextron Gum and PVA Gum. I still have not yet found or have any of the Test stamps with the PVA Gum or dull non shiny gum. Apparently just like the 6c + 8c Centennial Coils these test stamps can come in both types of gums. Although I have only seen the correctly perfed test stamps with the two types of gum. The Mis-Perf and the Imperf Test Coils I have only seen with the Dextron Gum or shiny gum.
Speaking of Gum types it is possible that the striation in the gum and paper on these test coils, just like the 6c Centennial Coil comes in two formats. Both the horizontal and the vertical striation in the gum. These striation in the paper make the coils stamps curl differently.
Thanks for the great pictures you added to the previous thread. Especially of the Florescence types. These test coils again come with multiple fluorescents types. From a Dull Paper with no florescence to High Bright Florescent Paper glowing bright like the ones you mentioned early.
I also have a Canadian Test Booklet with blank stamps in it. I have absolutely no information about the Test Booklet.
Does anybody know of any sellers of these Canadian Test stamps?
Scotty

scotty I did see a few of those coils for sale on ebay (way too expensive) and also on Delcampe which was more affordable for a strip of 4. In regards of the paper used for these test coils, if I refer to the below snip-it from an article from Christopher McFetridge regarding the 6c black coils and sheet stamps issued in 1970 and 1972, i'm pretty sure that CBN may have used horizontal and vertical wove papers for these test coils. "Unlike the paper used by the BABN, the paper used by the CBN is a vertical wove rather than a horizontal wove. The colour of the paper is very light cream when viewed against a stark white background, but is quite white when compared to the standard dull papers used by the CBN for the other values of the series. The paper also shows a light horizontal ribbing on the paper surface, that is often only visible when you view the stamps are viewed at an oblique angle to the light source. Under magnification, the paper surface appears completely smooth, and is lightly coated."
I did had another look at my test coils and on the strip with the PVA gum, I can clearly see the vertical ribbing and on one of the DEX gum strip you can see the horizontal striation in the gum. The Centennial issue is a Universe by itself.
