Do these (edit) cancel numbers carry a premium?
I received them from an eBay wanker from Australia who after 3 months sent them instead of my $14 order for something else.
He refuses to answer my inquiries.
His name is "Dave" and he claims to be a "Stampman". Connect the dots there.

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

JeffS all three are "gross chiffres" (Large numbers) Because I am looking at my list- the middle stamp , 691 was obliterated at the Caen office, Calvados department (like our counties... or very small states! but as you're in Texas and I'm in California, "counties" makes more sense!) Northwest coast in the Normandie region 2535 Morez (Morez-du-Jura), in the Jura department (East France and on the border) 3827 Saint-Quentin, Aisne department, Northeastern France, with one corner touching the border with Belgium The post office's were alphabetized and then numbers assigned up to 4358, back in 1862. Afterwords as more offices were added things get a bit out of order- Colonies start at 5000 (Algerie) And then it's back to offices it France at 6000 - 6449 As they are clear and the latter two nearly complete, they might add a slight premium, but the value is really realized when they are on a cover with a full obliteration. here are people who collect them, but as there are 6449 listed.... that would be quite a task. When I get to making pages for Ceres and Napoloeons I will make pages for those numerical obliterations that I have, but like the Great Britain early barred numeral obliterations, I have no hopes of ever finding them all! And as you probably are aware, there are variations to the cancelations (square "dots, large dots, small dots )of which you have both) The fact that they are all three fairly well centered adds more to their value (IMHO) If you want a listing link

All 3 stamps are "orange" My question involves the numeral cancels. Anglobob?? True but the one has oxidized to a brown. I would pass by a brown orange at the store. Just kidding you. Sadly I can tell you nothing about the numbers. The price paid seems about cv for used examples. Strange he would not send what you actually bought.

In other words, nowhere close to being worth $14.

Maury, Ceres & Dallay lists five (5) color shades Orange yellow orange (1872) light orange(1873) dark orange (1874) dark red-orange as well as some printed on yellow paper CV based on the latest Yvert & Tellier puts the three at ~ 45 Euros..... so $14 might be a bit on the high side The brownish leaning one may well be oxidized/changeling, or it could be a variant of the dark-red-orange. have only one that is "brownish, and you can see hints of orange, Printing was not an exact science.... so both your stamp (and mine- below) could be pigment mixtures that weren't quite there... hard to say Star 7 obliteration ( Paris )

You'll sometimes see a premium for certain GC numbers for places like Yokohoma or Offices in Turkey, where the canceller wasn't getting much use. For most numbers? It's always fun to track down the town tied to the number and look it up on Google Maps.

You can find the names of the cities corresponding to the big or small numbers on the site "http://e-timbres.net/pcgc/ '.

It depends on the rarity of the number. (Or letter.)
