Thanks to Roni ( decentguy) for starting this new thread. It seems forever since I posted any stamp images, so I have decided that since I have a couple of these in my collection, it's time to start making some contributions again. I don't have any great insights on these. I was just going for unused with nice color and centering. My 2-cent isn't as nice as Jack's ( banknoteguy), so I may need to look for an upgrade at some point. I still have a ways to go on these, clearly. United States, Sc285-288, 1c through 5c Trans-Mississippi Exposition Issue

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

I may as well join the party. I only have one mint from this set. What I have has evolved from a marriage of my collection and my fathers. I have not really gone after or tried to add to them. CondItion is questionable on a few so maybe I will start pursuing better copies. I do like the strong colour of my used 2 cent. This thread probably would be better placed with the US classics.

I have a mix of mint and used. Below are my two other mint examples. I usually don't like straight edges but the 5c was so nice I could not pass it up.

Since the Trans-Mississippi exposition was in Omaha and this series is often called the Omahas, I have been trying to find nice used examples with a clear Omaha cancel. Not so easy to find in my experience. So far I have two, below:

I have been zooming and darkening my .50 hoping that the faint postmark might have been Omaha because it has the oval shape but alas the few letters I can make out are not a match. Good luck with your hunt.

I like this set too and have found pretty decent examples I think.
Greadon has a nice complete set! I hope to eventually find affordable copies of the $1 and $2. Particularly the $1 as I love that design. So far no joy!

On Omaha cancels -- if anyone reading this has one I don't have, I am interested. Contact me. I have never seen an Omaha cancel on any of the higher value varieties (50c, $1, or $2). And I have searched the Siegel site. Has anyone else seen such an animal?

This set contains one of the few USA stamps I know about. It's the $1 "Western Cattle" which is a beautiful stamp with a nice story. It's based on a painting the "Vanguard' by Scottish artist John A. MacWhirter. The scene and the cattle are from the West Highlands of Scotland not the USA! There is a print of the picture along with a copy of the stamp in the member's lounge at the Royal Philatelic Society London:

I have to retract what I said about Omaha cancels on the higher values. I went back to Siegel and did some further searches and turned up several covers with the 50c and $2 stamps but none so far with the $1 stamp. And some are almost affordable. So I may end up with one or more yet!

Siegel 2019 Sale no. 1196 — Lot no. 906, sold for $750: That cover should have had the 5c Trans-Mississippi stamp on it, because it's mailed to a city named after the guy shown planting the flag on that stamp! Ryan
