Within Colnect, there is no way to specify that a stamp in your collection is on cover, is there? I don't see that as an option.

As an aside, I grew up very close to Blaauwbergstrand, and much of my family still lives there. Needless to say, it is somewhat more developed than it was in that 1944 picture.

This year's Christmas seals from the American Lung Association.
Edit: I bought these to put on correspondence, not to collect, so if anyone wants one of these on cover, PM me. I still have a few of this year's Easter seals left too.

From the small town of Hines, in eastern Oregon. 20 December 2020. When my friends and co-workers go out of town, I sometimes ask if they will send me a postcard and get it hand cancelled at the local post office. It's something I often do myself when out of town, and I've never had any pushback from post office staff. For some reason, though, my friends seem to always have a tough time of it. One time a co-worker went to visit his wife's family in Germany. He misunderstood what I wanted (my fault, probably) and asked the postal clerk to cancel an unaddressed postcard, which he intended to hand carry back to me. Apparently the clerk thought this highly irregular, and they spent a long time arguing before he applied the cancel. I didn't have the heart to tell my co-worker that I actually did want it mailed. This Hines one from last year comes from my friend Scott. He oversees some low income housing in the town, and drives out there every three months or so. When he asked the clerk in the Hines post office for the hand cancel, she got angry with him, thinking that he was telling her how to do her job. But, hey, I got the cancel. By far the funniest one was from earlier this year when a co-worker went to Borrego Springs, California, for a family vacation. This time the counter clerk said that she could not hand cancel the stamp itself, but required instead that the cancel be applied to a form (which form? I wish I remember) instead. That sounded goofy to my co-worker, so he returned the next day, hoping to get a different clerk. But of course the same clerk was there, and told him the same thing. Now there was some enmity between them, as the clerk naturally was irritated by him coming back and expecting a different answer. But he was now a man on a mission, so he returned the next day again, and made his request of the same clerk. But again got the same answer. Then for some reason on the fourth day, she applied the cancel to the postcard without any further discussion. As I typed that last story, I realized how unlikely it sounded, but that's how my co-worker described it to me. I really wish that I remember which form the clerk wanted him to fill out.

16 December 1968, Glens Falls, NY.
Judging from the Glens Falls Times of that date, there was a lot going on. For one thing, the hull of a fancy new excursion boat had just arrived.
