16 December 1968, Glens Falls, NY.
Judging from the Glens Falls Times of that date, there was a lot going on. For one thing, the hull of a fancy new excursion boat had just arrived.

13 December 2019, Portland, Oregon. Just a letter that I got at work on this day last year, probably a Christmas card from a vendor.

Here's one from Hamilton, Bermuda for 10 December 1964.
Around this time of year, a lot of people would probably like to be in Bermuda, the Isles of Beauty, soaking up the sun. And on the 10th December 1964, you could take a cruise there for a mere $135. Pretty sweet. The Morning News (Wilmington, Delaware), 10 December 1964

I originally posted this for a few seconds on December 1, then hastily deleted it when I saw that it was actually December 4 (2014 from somewhere in the UK).

Here is a nice meter cancel from Santa Monica for 3 October 1957, including the slogan "see the 3 new telephone colors". I wasn't able to discover what those three new colors were that General Telephone Company started offering in 1957. I did discover, though, that in 1957 phones came in quite a variety of colors. I had always been under the impression that phones in the 50s were just black or beige.

Here's one from Scottsdale, AZ from 1 October 1963
That day was a Tuesday. and if one didn't feel like cooking and Gunsmoke on CBS, then taking your family to dinner and Cinerama was an option. How the West Was Won was playing at the Scottsdale Cinerama that eveniing, and I do like James Stewart. On the other hand, I'm also a massive Gunsmoke fan, so I think given the choice I would leave the movies to later in the week. Arizona Republic, 1 October 1963, p27.

Here is a charming postcard from Silver City, New Mexico, postmarked 19 August 1955. "Dear Ida, I imagine you are back home getting ready for school. I still haven't thought much about it.I got A in both my courses - so that was welcome news. I am surely enjoying my trip in New Mexico. Yesterday we went to Juarez, Mexico and shopped. Then had dinner at the most beautiful supper club I've ever seen.I bought myself a black lace dress. Now I'll have to figure out where to wear it. As ever yours"

The phone number was wrong - not even the correct area code. Now that I think about it, I didn't really have a good reason for obscuring it.

For some reason people across the country have been receiving packets of unsolicited mystery seeds from China. And today I did too! The package contains two small baggies of mystery seeds (which will be tossed), but, alas, no stud earrings. By far the coolest part of the cover as far as I am concerned is the return address: North side of the west gate of South China Avenue. Sweet. Makes me want to start giving my address as "3rd apartment on the west side of the second floor of the building on the corner of the block."

Here is one from Long Beach, WA that I sent to myself on this day (22 July) last year.
I like that this did not get a spray cancel in addition to the nice hand cancel.

Hi Charlie, and welcome to the forum. It's most excellent to have you here. My dad was also on the Merchant Marine, on the British side. I think that he spent most of his time far up north, and as a youngster I had a reindeer hat from his time in Tromso. I am quite envious of you visiting various Pacific islands.

A co-worker gave me this today - a Royal Mail bag.
Verbiage on the bag (to aid searches): MB8 2017 B. Maximum Load 11kg Royal Mail Great Britain [ Admins: I wasn't really sure if memorabilia was the correct description for this kind of object. Please rename the Subject to something more appropriate if necessary.]
