The rabbit hole goes deeper. I am in love with 1940-ish to 1980-ish commemoratives from France and allied countries (French Oceania, French Polynesia, French South and Antarctic Terr., Martinique, Monaco, St. Pierre & Miquelon, etc.). I love the colors, the engravings...they are beautiful. I have more in my possession already than I knew, but this is quickly becoming my new stamp obsession. I can't wait for the local stamp show in February so I can try to hit the jackpot and find a bunch I don't have.

I'm at the point I believe I need some SP&M pages I know I saw some at about $15 for a download but, can't seem to find it again.Anyone know where it might be??I really don't want to go $40 for Stiener downloads although that is a option if I can't locate anything else.Thanks. I know this is an old thread, but are you still looking for SP&M pages?

I like to think that I’m fairly intelligent. Finding the name of a country I’ve never heard of makes me feel less than intelligent. Ifni. That’s a new one to me. I found some stamps this evening from this country that I’ve never heard of in a lot I’m plowing through. I love to learn. I think that’s why I do this.

I ran into this problem this evening, and had an additional problem to deal with. I also had some old mint stamps stuck together, and I knew the only recourse was soaking them apart. However, after let them soak long enough to separate from each other, the full gum that was on the back was a relatively thick goo on the back of each stamp. How does everyone deal with this? Just soak them longer until the gum completely dissolves?

I need a little help. I have access to Steiner pages, but I cannot find the pages for St. Pierre & Miquelon. Can anyone tell me how it's labeled on it's PDF? I know they put underbars between worlds, but I can't figure this one out. Please and thank you!

This is another new rabbit hole I've gone down after beginning an education into French stamps. Good grief, this little island has issued some beautiful stamps. I may have to start looking for these aw well as French stamps. I know I have a few of them, and now I have to go see what I have.

I just finished looking back through this thread. How cow, Rene...those French air mails stamps are beautiful. I know I have a C45, but that's probably the only one I have. Thanks for sharing those.

It's December 2nd,and I have not heard back from her. Honestly, I'd forgotten all about it. Not sure if I reach out to her again at some point or continue to wait, as I don't really know the woman. Patience is a virtue, right? lol

A question was posted in another forum today...What is the main reason you collect stamps? As I thought about a reply ("I'm a history geek", I decide was the reason), something dawned on me. I "officially" started collecting on my 12th birthday, in sixth grade. For that birthday, I received a bunch of stamps and a Harris Ambassador album. Although I was away from the hobby briefly during my college years, I've never left it entirely. Today is my 57th birthday, so it is the 45th anniversary of my stamp collection. The funny thing is, I'm still trying to figure out what I want to collect. I started out collecting U.S. and worldwide. I wanted everything. Then I focused on U.S. stamps and limited WW a bit (once I figured out what CTO's were, and decided I didn't care for them so much), unless something struck my fancy or a friend brought me something back from a trip overseas. I eventually started a set of Canada albums when I reached a point that the U.S. stamps i needed were out of my price range, followed by a set of Great Britain albums. Recently, I decide to pursue France, although I still don't know if I'll put parameters on it. I'm thinking the same thing with Russia/USSR, because I have a nice small collection of those. South American countries were tempting, but I've decided instead to expand Great Britain somewhat to include the Commonwealth. Again, I may put limits on it, but that's unknown still. I have a nice start on that, going back to stamps I saved at the beginning and have accumulated since. Beyond that, I think I'm going to begin purging myself of stamps that don't fit what I've decided to focus on. I have too much overstock, and I don't enjoy that so much. I see trades in my near future, and I hope to get one of the grandkids/nephews/nieces interested.
So THAT is my goal for 2020. That will be part of getting organized. Apologies that this post got so long winded.

2020 goal: Get my albums organized! I'm determined to get my collection trimmed down to the stuff I really like, and not just an accumulation of everything I come across. I suspect I'll be offering some stuff up here in some manner in the new year.

I look forward to seeing some of those semi-postals. While digging through what I have so far from France (which isn't much yet), I actually have one or two of them myself. I'm sure they are nothing terribly valuable, but I love the engraving.

I have an unwanted SG Commonwealth catalogue from 2005 in good condition. (I think it may be in two parts). Hardback. Problem is the postage costs will be horrendous. But if it's cheaper than buying one it is available for FREE. I also have a nice Commonwealth collection that I have been selling but my stamps have lain dormant recently so will get back to it. I posted some here a few months ago and will do so again. If anyone has any wants, I can check them out. Details to come. Londonbus1 Tell me more about the SG catalog. Did I understand correctly, you are offering it for free?

I have a pretty good idea of how i want to proceed, but i'm curious if and how anyone else has approached this. I'm beginning a process of eliminating countries from my stock of stamps (I'll probably make some available in the near future). I collect Great Britain, and i think i want keep anythjng related to Britain. I'm starting with any countries with EII's profile or ER logo. Maybe include the countries from the coronation omnibus set i started. Any other suggestons from anyone? Ultimately, i think i'm going to keep United States, Canada, Great Britain and whatever i else i decide to expand that to, France, and Russia/USSR. Plus any assorted stamps that i just like. Other countries are going to be traded, sold, or given away, i think, to anyone that will appreciate them more.
So, what say you about British 'commonwealth'?

According to my sister's research, she and I are 20th great-grandchildren of Edward I of England...you know, the king of England from Braveheart? I don't know how much stock we can put into her research, but I'll allow it to be the reason for my interest in British (and Canadian) stamps.

The mount cutter I use I pirated from my mom's old scrapbooking supplies that she no longer uses. Works great, and can accommodate up to 12". I can't imagine that it was very expensive.

Over the weekend I received an email from Canada Post claiming that I needed to click the attached link and change the password to my account on their site. It said there had been a breach, that I probably wasn't affected, but I was required to change my password anyway. The email looks legit, but I don't trust any unsolicited emails any more. Did anyone else get this? Seems like asking here would be the best place to ask to verify its authenticity.

I've discovered that I do have a few of the semi-postals from the old collections I've accumulated. When I get the chance to really start organizing what I have so far, I'll have to look them up and see what I have. I love starting a new collection.
