In 1986, an expedition of Argentine Antarctic Institute to James Ross Island found remains of an unknown species of dinosaur. It is a genus of dinosaur ankylosaur represented by a single species, Oliveroi, who lived in the late Cretaceous period in what is now Antarctica. Teeth, part of the lower jaw, skull fragments, vertebrae and bones of limbs and feet, hind part of hip and tail, and numerous pieces of the Antarctopelta skeleton were found. All are shown on one single stamp:

Since 5 years I work on my website: www.paleophilatelie.eu this site is about representation of Paleontology in Philately. Paleophilatelie is a topical collecting of post stamps and another kind of philatelic material (covers, post cards, post stationary, post marks etc.) depicted prehistoric animals plant fossils, fossil found sites, reconstruction of dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals, humans ancestors, paleontologists and contributors to the science as well as some museums with significant paleontological collections. There are many images and information about listed stamps. Just few examples: - Stamps preview - almost 800 images of ffficial stamps depicted prehistoric animals and plants, fossils, fossil found sites, museums with paleontologic exhibitions, paleontologists and contributors to Paleontology science
- Chronology - all "Paleo" stamps are sorted follow their issue date
- Country based catalogue is coming soon.
Any kind of feedback is appreciated

Thanks. Personally, I disagree with the author of the letter and fully support Mr. Barry N. Floyd, the author of original article who wrote "As to be expected with this kind of public appeal, many countries have issued stamps featuring dinosaurs .... Sadly, however, a number of countries have produced dinosaur stamps quite unrelated to any fossil finds in their own territories. Furthermore, these stamps have been aimed at young susceptible collectors — the so-called “kid’s stuff.” Invariably produced in excess of the postal needs of the countries concerned, they often were not even made available to the general public. In this essay I have excluded speculative or rogue issues from countries such as the Central African Republic, Grenada, Guinea Bissau, the Republic of Guinea, Liberia, and St. Vincent." I also exclude such "stamps" from my collection and mark it by grey background on my site

I was also wondering if you belong to American Topical Assoc, and if so, how up-to-date they are with releases. Well, since I joined them in January this year, they become updated I been told, most collectors who is interested in the topic are member of Biophilately Unit of ATA - I joined both clubs to see if its make sense. I also took over Associated Editor of Paleontology role at Biophilately magazine and keep the list of Paleontology related stamps updated. May be will write some article for them too. People who are not members of Biophilately Unit can see all new stamps on my website. There are several beautiful stamps of fossils and prehistoric animals already issued this year. Many more are expected. Three country: Canada, Cuba and Portugal are going to issue dinosaur stamps in May. More info is here

Our member "Jaysee" favourite thematic link is Postbeeld It only has "Prehistoric animals" no Dinosaurs search text. The latest was 2014 "http://www.postbeeld.com/en/fsc/search&category=f2 well, postbeeld is stamp store, they have many stamps but far away to be complete. Moreover, they don't list feature issues. Due the fact I collect not only stamp, but FDC and circulated covers too, I try to know about stamp issues in advance to able to find either swap partner or stamp dealer who can send me some covers on the day of stamp issue. I was also wondering if you belong to American Topical Assoc, and if so, how up-to-date they are with releases. No, I don't, but I think about to join the club. As far I know, there are no "Paleontology" related presentation on Exponet. Here you can see some exposition sent to me be several fellow collectors. If you know or have any other, please let me know. I'll be very glad to host some more Paleo-Philately stuff on my website

Dinosaur ATM stamps of Portugal In November 1999 Post Authority of Portugal introduce new set of machine (ATM) stamps with title "Dinosaurs of Portugal" (Dinossurios em Portugal). Four different stamp-template depicted some dinosaurs and some of their footprints. Fossilized remains of all dinosaurs depicted on the stamps as well as their footprints are found in Portugal. These dinosaur ATM stamps issued with 7 predefined values from PTE (Portuguese Escudo) 50 to PTE 350, by two vending machines: Amiel (first set - big and bold values) and SMD (the second set - smaller text). Similar stamps but in face value in two currencies: Escudo and Euro are printed in 2000. The rarest stamps are from 2002 with face value in Euro only, as it was on sale for two months only

"For the first time, from 24 to 26 October, the mounted original skeleton of a Tyrannosaurus rex was on display in Europe. The fully-grown and exceptionally well-preserved exemplar of this predatory dinosaur, for which scientific research has not been fully completed yet, was the highlight of this year’s Munich Show – Mineralientage München. Three days long, scientists and visitors can admire the King of the dinosaurs at the Munich Trade Fair Center......" In order to commemorate this even Deutsche Post issued special commemorative post mark. Here some of my covers:

Just received these very rare stamps of Congo 1998, overprint multiple 'AUTORISÉ' on stamps of 1993. (MiNr. 1524 & A1530) According to stampedout.nl : "The late nineteen were chaotic times in the Congo. Rebels / warlords took control over parts of the country, and seized significant quantities of valid stamps. To prevent these from being sold or used, the central government had their stock of stamps overprinted, and declared stamps without overprint invalid." In total almost 50 stamps from various stamp sets are overprinted. two of them are from prehistoric animals set from 1993. Michel add - short time after, also in 1998, another overprinted stamps with "LEGAL" text, are issued all stamps with previous overprint declared invalid too. However it were still on sale for collectors. Curious about its catalogue values. In my Michel copy (2007) price is not provided.

Just finished to sort out all Paleontology related stamps of my site at Chronological order: www.paleophilatelie.eu/phil_catalogue.html / www.paleophilatelie.eu/year/index.html All thematic catalogs I know, order stamps at country order. This is also on my to do list, but to me a chronological order is even more interesting as it shows development of the topic during the time. Feedback is welcome, enjoy it !

Archaeopteryx is seen on one of the Romanian FDCs that Michael just posted. He can be seen on stamps from many other nations as well; he is often considered to be the first bird. Plus maybe he has a good publicity agent. Cryptoclidus, on the other hand, can only be seen on this Polish stamp from 1965. Note that he has flippers rather than legs. Ryan Cryptoclidus is indeed rare "guest" on stamps, but according to StampedOut web site, it appears on some more stamps: www.stampedout.nl/species1/crypclid.htmlMany Archaeopteryx stamps can be seen here www.birdtheme.org/mainlyimages/index.php?spec=2812
