My big ticket item from yesterday's Stamp show in Toronto. Some of you may know, I've started working on an exhibit for next year (I'll have to follow through now!) on Canada's War Tax stamps of the First, and possibly Second World War. An item I saw in the van Dam Revenue catalogue were these 1915 Wine Strips. They are pretty pricey in the catalogue, and I've only dreamed of acquiring one. Well there were two facing me at the show, and I fell in lust! I chatted with the seller for some time, walked away, came back. And he was able to offer me a deal I couldn't refuse. Luckily it was the end of the day, because he took everything I had left in my pockets. He actually gave me a really good deal on these. The funny thing was, while chatting with him and his associate, he showed me his website. I suddenly found myself saying, "Oh, your Mr. van Dam!" Yes, I was talking to the man himself, and he'd literally wrote the book on the subject. So now, these are in my collection, and will be on display next year. I have a LOT of research to do.

What I collect: Primarily focused on Japan, but lots of other material catches my eye as well ...
