I have seen a few posted in various threads and I thought there was already a topic on the GB board but did not find it. So I'll start one now as there might be some interesting covers and postmarks lying around on some Stamp desks !! I'll begin with these two from 'Stamp 97', that wonderful, but sadly short-lived event held at Wembley Exhibition Centre in London. The two covers were produced by the Lundy Collectors Club for their meeting at the show. Both have Bideford Meter Marks.

Here's one from the 1950 International Stamp Exhibition held at Grosvenor House, London. The cancel reproduces a numbered Maltese Cross as the date (13). I think the address may have a small typing error !!

AS with many International Exhibitions, each day was given over to a theme or topic for which special cancels were produced and sometimes the cover itself. The one below, from 'London 1980' at Earl's Court is for Aerophilately Day, May 9th, and includes a label produced for the F.I.S.A. for their Congress held alongside the International at the Penta Hotel. FISA= International Federation of Aerophilatelic Societies.

Here is a real recent one from this years NOJEX show. That is North Jersey without the typo for New Yersey. Though people from that part of the state might say "joisey"

The envelope was addressed to a Stamp Shop in Glasgow, Scotland. I have never been to a stamp show at Olympia ! Another cover from 'Philympia' for United Nations Day. (Sept 22nd).

A couple of Philatelic events in 1975 commemorated 50 years since the spectacular British Empire Exhibitions at Wembley in 1924-25. The first was at the 'National Stamp Day' stamp fair at the Strand Palace Hotel in London, which took place on the Penny Black's official birthday, May 6th. A souvenir sheet showing the two stamps issued back in 1925 for the Empire Exhibition accompanied by a 6d Machin, the cover was addressed to Manchester. The special cancel included an image of a Penrose Letter Box. To the left, Nelson's Column in Trafalgar Square, a stone's throw from the event. The 2nd cover was franked with a Charlotte Square, Edinburgh stamp from the European Architectural Heritage set of the same year (1975). Both the cancellation and the Cache included a Lion, which was prominent back in 1925 for use on Posters, Poster Stamps and advertising. The cover was produced for the British Philatelic Exhibition held at Seymour Hall in London, 29th October-1st November.

Philympia 1970 International Stamp Exhibition This was the first stamp exhibition that I ever attended when I was a boy back in 1970. Only now have I acquired an almost full set of covers depicting different handstamps for each day. This first lot include two first day covers for the three special Philympia stamps. The third cover is for the second day of the Exhibition.
