There's a lot of drama surrounding Twitter these days. Which has led to a pretty huge uptake of people migrating to Mastodon.
Mastodon is an open-source federated Twitter clone. What that means, is you don't join "Mastodon," you join a Mastodon server and then you can choose to follow people on other Mastodon servers. You can transfer your ID from one server to another. And there is no one central authority controlling the whole thing.
The reason why I am telling you this is that there is now a Mastodon server dedicated to stamp collecting. The server is philately.social.
Mastodon is in no way a competitor to forums, and i am sure many don't see the value of using a micro-blogging platform. But it's cool that someone has set up a Mastodon server just for stamp collectors.
If you create an account on this server, you will probably only see stamp collecting related posts from people. The server doesn't seem to be pulling in feeds from the rest of Mastodon yet. So, you can avoid a lot of the social media drama that's on Twitter.

Other than pull something from one Twitter feed, I have nothing to do with Twitter. I had created an Instragram account and have not posted anything yet several have started following me.

If your just following stamps you can just stay on twitter and never see the political drama.

I use the Tweetbot app for Twitter. No ads, no suggestions, just posts from the people I follow. I see no drama out there whatsoever! So much more relaxing.
I really hope Musk doesn't screw it up any more than he has. I get posts from the town, other stamp collectors... I just wish friends would use it too. Subscription? I'm not paying. I will though - it is cheap!

It looks promising, but does not appear to be fully open yet:
"Currently registration is invite-only until we get the kinks worked out."

It looks promising, but does not appear to be fully open yet: "Currently registration is invite-only until we get the kinks worked out." That just means when you create an account, they need approve it. At least in my case. I got an informal invite from Ted Talks Stamps via Twitter. So I signed up for an account and just told them Ted invited me.
If anyone already has a Mastadon account, you can ping me @andyp@social.linux.pizza or @andyp@philately.social.
I like the concept of Mastadon.
