I was a regular poster on StampExchange and post occasionally on SCF. My main collecting interests are US Newspaper & Periodical stamps and Nassau Street stamp dealer covers.
I dabble in chess topicals, Newfoundland, Saint Pierre & Miquelon, stamp society and club cinderellas.
I have a decent stamp collecting library around 600 volumes. Yes, I know much of it is online these days, but I like books and the feel of hardcopy in my hands.
I am 72, married, four kids and eight grandchildren. I live in Golden, Colorado currently. I collected as a kid and came back to the hobby around 7-8 years ago. My original interest was classic US but have sort of lost the thread of things on those issues. I am a retired commodity futures and FX money manager, have written on the subject and still trade a little for myself. Other hobbies are collecting chess literature and (just started) building model car kits. “The passions of our youth.” I read a lot, also.

Hello molokai, I used to have a pretty decent chess library, but I disbursed it because (a), chess was getting too computer-oriented, and (b) I was pretty mediocre - a competent but somewhat plodding competitor with very little imagination - and wanted to find things to do that I had some flair for. (I'm still looking.) I kinda wish I still had the book that Mikhail Botvinnik autographed for me during his only visit to the United States.

Hi - The computers have pretty much ruined the game per se for me. But the stamps and ephemera are fun. An autographed Botvinnik would be cool!

Guten Tag, Herr Doktor! Yes, shame about SE - but this Board looks very nice once I get the hang of things...sort of a slow learner.

What's the story behind your username 'Molokai'? Have you been there, or lived there, or interested in Molokai philately?
