Yes, I know there are probably numerous products on the market that do the same thing, and maybe better, but where is the fun in that? The actual cutter is just a cheapo from Office Depot that I've been using for the past 10 years or so. Very adequate for the limited number of mounts I required. Then I started the Denmark and Sweden projects and suddenly found myself facing the possibility of cutting thousands of mounts, many the same sizes. The problem is that there are basically only 2 ways to use the cutter as is. 1) Mark each mount on the strip, push the strip past the cutter and cut on the mark. OK, except that's alot of marking individual mounts. 2) Make a mark on the ruler of the cutter, where you want to cut the mounts, hold the strip at the mark, and cut away the excess. Fine, except that I have trouble remembering which mark is for which size. With this device you simply loosen the wing nut on the right, pull the stop back to whatever measurement you desire using the 6" ruler as a guide, tighten the wing nut and start cutting. Each mount will be square and consistent. Most of the stamps of Denmark seem to be 3 sizes, so I can cut alot of mounts in the sizes I'm going to need, ahead of time. BTW, the 6" ruler you see is just a prop for the photo. It doesn't actually have a scale in mm, but I have one on order right now and will get it soon. It might be a bit overkill, but I have to justify the shop full of inherited tools, and materials I have.

Thanks! It works like a charm too. I can now pre-cut mounts to the specific size I need and stash them in glassines by size. Very efficient and accurate.

I'm using this Fiskars paper cutter to cut my mounts, but I really don't like it. I need something better and cheap.

Say now! That's pretty ingenious! You should have it patented and then sell them. I bet there is a lot of collectors that could benefit from it. Just a thought?
