This edict must have been relaxed, I have many mint copies of the withdrawn stamp. I will not post an image, as it may offend. Scott does not indicate any increased value.

That's quite the story. I wonder if there is anything that can be done with these stamps. Could be they distributed to synagogues and used there in some way.

1 pound 50 (I do not know how to insert a pound icon) I don't know if it's the same with an Australian keyboard (I think so), but over here you hold down the Alt key (the one on the left if you have two of them) and while holding it down, use the number pad (not the numbers above the letters) to type a "0" followed by the 3 digit ASCII code for the character you need. After you release the Alt key, the character will pop up. For the pound sign, the 4 digits are 0163 - that gets notated as Alt+0163. I have some common diacritics memorized, others I need to look up. This only works for characters 32 to 255 in the ASCII set. Beyond those, the method won't work. Alt+0163 ££££ Alt+0228 ä Alt+0246 ö Alt+0252 ü Alt+0233 é Alt+0128 € etc. Ryan

Kirk posted some Marc Chagall (I wasn't aware they were also rouletted) I am not a fan of Marc Chagall, not my taste, but here is some more beautiful digital work by the late Philatelist, Ann Mette Heindorff.

Set of four, perf. 14x13 stamps depicting agricultural themes (wheat, barley, grapes and figs ) issued August 27, 1958 (Scott 145-148). The note on tabs in the Scott catalog indicates that "Stamps of Israel are printed in sheets with tabs (labels) usually attached below the bottom row, sometimes at the sides." and that tabs of a number of stamps, these included, "are in two parts, perforated between..."

The note on tabs in the Scott catalog indicates that "Stamps of Israel are printed in sheets with tabs (labels) usually attached below the bottom row, sometimes at the sides." and that tabs of a number of stamps, these included, "are in two parts, perforated between..." And for those stamps like you show, the catalogue price is for stamps with both of the tab portions present. For the oldest Israeli stamps, there's a real big difference in price for stamps with tabs (and a big difference in price if the two-part tab is incomplete), and apparently it's a common problem that unscrupulous sellers will attach a previously removed tab portion to make it appear whole. More Jewish New Year stamps with that same design were issued again the next year but they no longer had the two-part tab. I like the design style of this series, and I like pomegranates, so hooray for Jewish New Year pomegranate stamps. Ryan

Pomegranate : Fruit of fecundity. Pomegranate : French (Grenade) from which the English get their military Grenade reference. I once had a delightful legend why the pomegranate was on the arms of Spain, (Heraldic Blazon) I have since lost, or misplaced that

Many collectors consider the stamp is only complete if it is connected to its tab. The Scott catalogue lists prices for stamps with tabs only for complete mint sets. Israeli catalogues (I have both Bale and Carmel) list tabbed stamps individually, priced both mint and used, which I like because I have quite a few tabbed used singles that I've accumulated over the years. As I mentioned earlier, the price difference can be real big on some early issues. Consider this one, Scott #15 - my older catalogue prices it at 50 cents for a mint single and $50 for a tabbed mint single! There are a couple of sets where the tabbed value is more than 100 times the value of stamps without tabs. Ryan

It is also quite often seen that sellers will list stamps without selvedge as 'Stamps with tabs', in many cases trying to hoodwink gullible collectors into believing they are getting the real thing. I have often complained to sellers and even good auction houses about their listings. Some get quite angry and very rude.

More pomegranates. Plentiful in our village and very popular with everyone. We always have juice in our house, good for the heart.
This booklet, as most modern-day [post-2000] Israel booklets, was issued unfolded. Booklets do not have Tabs but most have margins all round, some decorative.

The is one of the few issues that had side tabs, both left and right. Here is the left for completion !!
Issued to commemorate the first year of Israel's Independence in 1949. Whilst I no longer collect the stamps of Israel, these 2 types take pride of place in my Flag Collection.
Below is an amusing little error !

More pomegranates. Plentiful in our village and very popular with everyone. Oh yum, pomegranates and avocados, two of my favourite things to eat. Not at the same time, mind you. Although there is the unusual combination of avocado and chocolate, popular in Indonesia as a drink. I've never gone beyond adding a small touch of chocolate syrup to avocado slices, and I have to say, it's not half bad .... Ryan

In the 2015 Scott catalog, Israel #1901(13Sep2011), valued at $3.25 for VF MNH w/o tab. It is the high value of a 3 stamp set. Scott only values the tabs for the entire set. Value averaged (not by face value), the tabs give a 12% premium.

A stamp full of History Issued: April 19, 1988 Designer: A. Vanooijen Face Value: .60 shequel This Israel stamp was issued during the 40th Anniversary of the State of Israel, to honour Anne Frank. This young woman whose courage epitomized the spirit which gave birth to Israel itself. To read her story and fate makes me admire her courage and her suffering during a bad time of our History.

A few from the 1971-77 Israel Landscapes series have been shown but here is the complete basic set of 27. There are some Phosphor and perf varieties listed in specialist catalogues. Designed by W.Braum & D.Haris. Perf 14x13. One of our good members has already won this lot from one of my auctions so I hope he doesn't mind me showing them in this Israel thread !

For Hannukah........today the 3rd candle will be lit. Tomorrow we will go to my daughter's to light the 4th candle and eat eat doughnuts & Latkes (fried potato cakes). The stamps here, from 1996, were the first joint issue between the USA and Israel. Designed by American Graphic Artist Hannah Smotrich. The tab on the Israel Stamp shows a spinning top (Sevivon or Dreidel) which has a fascinating history. www.israel21c.org/everything-you-ever-wanted-to-know-about-the-hanukkah-dreidel/The USA version was subsequently re-issued on 4 occasions with denominations reflecting postage rate increases.
