The Michel catalog has a rectangle with “ga” after some of the stamps of this issue. I can’t find an explanation for the meaning of that. I see that they have Töne listed for those with shade variations, but the ga has me stumped. I vaguely remember reading that these might have different papers. Different gums? Any ideas? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Looking at my own Michel catalog, the GA notation is meant for : "Es gibt Ganzsachen mit bilgleichem Wertstempel". Which I would translate as indicating the existence of pre-stamped postcards with that stamp's picture on them acting as proof of postage.

Thank you , hrdoktorx! GREATLY Appreciated! My Michel 2019 Mitteleuropa does not have that note. Are you using an Austria specialized?

hrdoktorx is correct. From Michel's English-language Germany Specialized:

philatelia, in case you were not aware, most of the abbreviations/notations for Michel are summarized near the end of their Introduction Section on the page Abkürzungen und Zeichenerklärungen (abbreviations and explanation of symbols). The Michel I'm looking at is not the 2019, but it should be roughly the same: GA explanation is in the right column near the bottom.

Oh! I missed that! I read through that page, but missed the ga at the bottom. Lol. Maybe I need new glasses. And I tease my husband saying that he can’t find the ham in the meat drawer! khj , now I owe you TWO beers or coffees! Lol Thank you again, hrdoktorx and PostmasterGSHere is a pic of the page we are discussing;

It doesn't match perfectly because it is from an older edition catalog and they have more symbols now, but for reference...

a translated cross reference is very helpful. Thanks! The pic I posted is a 2019 edition. What year is the one you posted, khj ?

It was 2009, sewn together from multiple screenshots from English Michel Germany Specialized Part 2 that I had on my laptop. Most noticeable is Aufdrucke/overprint symbols aren't included, among others. It appears the layout is catalog dependent, not just year dependent. In my English Michel Germany 2021, it doesn't have the overprint symbols either. I guess those symbols are only used in the more specialized Michel catalogs? Sorry, I didn't have the 2021 handy, so I simply posted what I already digitized on my laptop.
I commiserate with you regarding not seeing the "GA" in the list. To me, their Abbreviation & Symbols page is not that intuitive, because I don't use Michel that often and my German is, shall we say, kaputt. While the editor may have categorized the list in a very logical order, it doesn't help me if I don't know what the symbol means to begin with! I would have preferred they put all the symbols together into one section.
I guess being used to weird Scott logic/inconsistencies, I've gotten used to looking where I wouldn't have expected!

2015 is the most recent German language Michel Deutschland-Spezial I have digitized on my laptop, and the overprint symbols aren't listed on that page. So I would guess it was added sometime 2016-2019. Thanks for taking pic of your 2019 page. It will come in handy. k
