What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

Thanks for posting these, JeffS. I really like them. Coincidentally, I was just corresponding with Morten ( classicalstamps) about these and other steamship company issues recently. Most genuine ones are uncommon and valuable, but as you can imagine, there are lots of forgeries and reprints. I have sent you an email to discuss.

are the imperf stamps largere than the perf? Like are the imperfs, previously perforated and perfs trimmed off. No, the stamp sizes look good.

My most recent Michel Spezial Österreich (1980/81) mentions the reprints. There are two of them. Perforated they are listed at DM 4.- or 5.-,imperforated at DM 6.- or 7.50. Most likely prices will not have changed much in the meantime. Of the originals no imperforated are listed,so yours should be reprints.
But still no junk !

The Donau DampSchiffart Gesellschaft started 1829. In 1857 it had 101 steamers and 359 tugs. It had exclusive right to trade on the Danube between 1846 to 1880, and kept on functioning until the 1920s. JeffS , you can find some info:www.romaniastamps.com/local/localpost.htm

Plating these is the sure way of knowing genuine from bogus. 10 stones in the first setting, 20 in the second. (the second one was only used for the 10k green). From Hurt & Kelly (1950): Here are the locations of DDSG's mail handling agencies: These stamps are a gold mine for creating custom album pages with background history.

This seems like a good place for this stamp. It is a DDSG Baggage control fee stamp for the transfer of baggage or goods to Russian steamship lines, according to this link. Used from 1870 Braila - Galatz and Galatz-Braila. They intended to expand, in 1874, with 3 routes; Kalaras-Ostrov-Silistria, Ostrov-Kalaras-Silistria and Silistria-Ostrov-Kalaras. However, the Ostrov and Kalaras offices were only open a few months and the Silistria office never opened at all. Only mint remainders exist for these offices. 40 Bani Silistria blue mint
