This topic is so important to me because of how I am and the way I am as a person ... Please hear me out and try to give me an advice or if you wish just opinion on what I am about to talk about... Ok I mean we all been enjoying this hobby for so many years some way more than others of course but at the end of the day we All love to have that special few stamps in our collection ... and I know many of our members do have many stamps that I would never dream of having in a million years and visa versa I am sure I have few which others will love to have too .... all that and more is what makes all the fun and excitements ....
I hardly do sell anything but when I decide to sell few stamps I always struggle to understand how or what goes through people's heads especially the ones who happened to own same scarcer stamp ... especially if I happen to have a few more than just one in my collection .... would that have an impact in a negative way on those people?? I am a caring person, and I will always wanna do the right thing by others ....
I will love to hear your point of view on all that, am I over working my brains for no reason ?? please advice.
Kind Regards Roni

HI Roni, I struggle with it as well. I buy collections from families and try and give a fair price. I am not a dealer, so I usually double what a dealer offers them because I know I am going to find something I want to keep! Having a worldwide collection makes that easy. I am going through a collection right now from Jamaica, and there is probably $150 (Scott Value) in pre 1900 stamps. Plus $100s of more recent. I list it for .99 CDn and will be lucky to get $5. I wonder if I am diminishing the value of our hobby buy doing this. Not that I am in it for the value, that is for the person who is stuck selling my collection after my demise. My issue is, I have a an office full of stamps, and I haven't really gone through the envelopes yet, because of covid. I am forced to move these items out. I am quite sure some buyers are shocked when they get their packages. I will say that prices are trending up as more people follow my auctions, but still seems sad to me some of these prices and I know many here feel the same. As a dealer once said to me, " are you here to make money or collect stamps?" I like filling wholes in albums, the rest is just collateral for me. Cheers Roy
