We recently had a membership request where the applicant was hoping our membership could offer some guidance in ways she could learn the identity of and/or locate the individual who had sent her father a postcard from Dresden back in 1967.
Specifically, her application included the following note:
I informed her that membership in this case was not appropriate but I would post her request for assistance in a thread and she could view any responses that were provided. I asked her to send an image of the card and provide any further information that might be applicable. Both are posted below.
If anyone can offer assistance (e.g., recommend potential information sources, etc.) please post them here. If you'd like to contact her directly, send me a PM with your contact info and I'll pass it along.

I am seeking information regarding specific DDR stamp and postage marks. Recently, I found a mysterious postcard for my father from the DDR to him in Vancouver BC Canada sent in 1967 and am trying to find out as much as I can to see if I can locate the Gösta that sent it. I only have the postcard and the stamp to go by.

Hans Buhr is my father. We have no idea who this Göstä was, but much of my family were in East Germany. My grandfather and grandmother had to divorce due to the Nazis in Germany. We had rumours regarding a possible officer post-war that my Oma may have been in a relationship with, but no names were ever mentioned. My father never mentioned him. Then - I found this postcard stuck to a piece of paper a few months ago.
It’s just a strange family mystery I’m trying to figure out - and this is my one and only clue.
My Oma’s side of the family were in East Germany - not too far from Dresden in a small town called Stassfurt. None of her sisters husbands’ names were Göstä, etc.
