Hello everyone,
My name is Vakhtang Chigogidze, I'm from Tbilisi, Georgia. Well, I might say I'm new in stamp collecting, but I got into this mysterious world in my childhood. With my fathers magnifying glass and In front of his old stamp album… and I remember myself discovering all those different colors and shapes and every little curves in those beautiful engravings…so, many years later I started to explore this collection in more detail and that's how I was poisoned with philately… I'm not collecting any specific area or theme. What I do love in stamps is something which makes it unique, so my true passion is classic period issues (1840-1875) from all over the world and also the errors, oddities and even in forgeries i'm interested in… I'm always trying to collect the information and history behind each stamp and its printing process, so I'm afraid in general I will bother you with questions about my new findings… I hope i'll find some friends here, with similar interests.
Best regards,
Vakhtang Chigogidze

I remember Tbilisi well. The food, the castle on the hill, the wine, the ambience. There were some stamp stands in a flea market. Alas the Batumi stamps were all forged. I bought some mysterious stamps that I think were fantasies, but found some nice ones on piece.
Welcome here!

Well, you definatelly felt all that romantic soul of Tbilisi we are very hospitable nation and im sure you had a great time here... If you find yourself here again i will be happy to meet you and have a nice conversation about stamps... On a flea market there are generrally common and regular stamps on the counter, but in the deep of the park sometimes you can find a bunch of old philatelists who really know the subject perfectly and have wonderful collections... Cheers.

Welcome!
I remember, among many other things about "Georgia on my mind", the double N female chess players: Nana Ioseliani Nunu Abashidze Nina Dumbadze and last but not least, Nona Gaprindashvili.
