Greetings.
Just a few lines to introduce myself. Decided to apply for membership after reading very informative postings regarding Romania authored by darkomex.
As I suspect was the case with many TSF members, I started collecting as a young child. My mother (who, in retrospect, conclude was a "closet collector") would stick dime store packets of WW stamps in Easter baskets, Christmas stockings, etc. And in doing so, sparked a pastime which has maintained my interest for more than six decades.
In Spring 2020 (concurrent with onset of the pandemic), transitioned from WW collector (accumulator?) to "philatelist". Recent focus has evolved to include a handful of countries or collecting topics such as early Austria, early Romania, early Argentina, as well as WW (non US) revenues. In doing so, have become fascinated with the breadth of (affordable) collecting opportunities beyond Scott, such as perforations, watermarks, paper varieties, etc. For example, across the last several days, armed with watermark fluid, a good perf gauge, and proper lighting, "discovered" many "new" Romanian postage due, postal tax, and fiscal issues which had previously been considered to be duplicates.
Look forward to reading through the TSF posting "archives", and perhaps contributing a question or "discovery" soon thereafter.
