Seasonal changes do have an impact on our hobby. As we enter the Summer months in the Northern Hemisphere, we might see a small decline in forum activity and the fall sees a return to our albums.
Here in the USA, many northerners spend the winters in warmer states such as Florida and Texas and as they “migrate”, we call them “snowbirds”. Some take their collections with them, some leave part at one home. Some stay put, but, as the weather changes, some stamp collectors temporarily close their stamp albums because they are busy enjoying summer activities.
As to me - well I live year round in Florida. The summer months are more like the winter months up north meaning that the weather outside becomes really hot and humid so we hunker down in the air conditioning and reduce outdoor activities except during the cooler parts of the day. So between the weather and the fact that my sister goes back up north, I have more time for stamps in the summer.
So - how does the change in seasons affect your stamp collecting activities?

no, although there are brief seasonal "interruptions" as I am an avid gardener and there are annual "windows" for planting and preparing beds and the sporadic visitation of family (who's eyes glaze over rather quickly if I start talking about "my stamps")

I don't know...this will be my first summer stamp collecting.
But I foresee summer interfering with the stamp collecting. I have a shop downtown that I inherited from my dad after he passed away. It's just a place to work on my own projects. No money making projects! I open it back up after the cold South Dakota winter and spend the majority of my time there in the warmer spring summer and fall months. But I'm trying to check in here at least every few days.
Plus I try to set aside an hour or two to process more FDCs in the evenings when I get home. brookbam

It doesn't affect me at all. Other than a vacation during the summer, nothing really ever changes.

I am not a "snowbird", preferring the cold winters in Toronto to the hot and humid summer here. That said, I definitely get more stamp work done in the winter than the summer. There is just so much more work to do around the house in the summer and of course, the days are much longer.

Ok our club has ceased until Sept but the next big date on my calendar is the 2 day York fair in July.
Anyway today is 5th May allegedly springing into summer……it is 7o C and raining , definitely a stampy day with 4 items watching on eBay and 50 or so to list over a weekend of 80% fee discount .

I live in the South of France year-round. It does get quite hot in the house in the summertime (we have only minimal air conditioning) so the main impediment to stamping is when I start sweating, as I need to avoid sweat beads falling on the stamps! It has happened before. So that means less week-end stamping, and confined to the cooler evenings.

I'm more stamp active in the winter. Shorter days and when I get back from work it's dark outside (in the winter). In the spring, summer and autumn my priority is being out on one of my bikes. But we have a lot of rain here at the west coast of Norway so there is time for stamps in the summer to.

This is a hobby. I do it when I get to it. I can go weeks or months without getting anything new. It's not my job. Therefore, the idea of this being seasonal, based on the weather or anything else, that doesn't make much sense to me. I'm not a fanatic so... I just do it when I do.

Summer is best for studying watermarks and shades. Winter is best for studying phosphors.

I tend to take breaks from time to time, but it’s not specific to certain times of the year. The amount of time I spend “away” from the hobby can also vary. Sometimes a couple weeks. Most of the time less than a month. Longest since I got back into collecting in 2018 was about three months back at the beginning of covid.

In warm weather, stamping competes with gardening. But in the hottest part of the summer when I prefer to stay indoors, I go back to the stamps.

I am with the group that does it when I do it. The thing that drives my decision the most is how I feel physically.

I am with the group that does it when I do it. The thing that drives my decision the most is how I feel physically. For me, it's when I can carve out some time. Yesterday, I went through a couple of albums and added to my want lists. Today, I'm finally going to try to order some more mounts because, after more than a month, it looks like most of what I need might be in stock. Mostly, it's there when I want to do it, otherwise, it stops being a hobby and starts being a profession. I've already got one of those.
Got everything except 24s, which NOBODY HAS! Come on, this can't be that hard!

I tend to collect/accumulate all year round. I have brief interruptions when other hobbies or life gets in the way.
