Many members may not be aware that every image posted creates an expense to the forum. We pay for a certain amount of storage, but many are not aware of the details.
Also, many members may not be aware that because we do not have advertising (and in fact pay to get rid of the ads) that the forum expenses must be paid for by donations from the members.
I looked at the new member “must read” section and did not see any mention of how the forum is financed. I’d like to suggest that a brief paragraph be added to the new member info so that they understand how the forum works and that membership comes with a responsibility to use forum resources judiciously.

That’s why I suggest to use our own image hosting site, like google drive or similar. It’s much more difficult to use than imgbb but more “light” for the forum

I recommend using the TSF image host. There is less possibility of images disappearing that are on sites like imgbb and personal website. As Steve has noted, you should only use it for TSF posts.
Steve, to highlight that TSF does rely on financial support, is it possible to create some kind of badge that says "supporter" for those that contribute,

Steve, to highlight that TSF does rely on financial support, is it possible to create some kind of badge that says "supporter" for those that contribute, Nice idea, Al, but with some minimum required to prevent a glut of penny contributions. I hesitate to suggest this next idea as I just submitted a short piece, but, even more importantly, a badge for those who submit articles to the newsletter would be wonderful. AdminAn easy way to do this would be to go under “Staff options” and add a custom title. I’d be happy to volunteer to do the implementation as I’ve done that on another group. I believe that if you are going to make suggestions that create work, it is nice to offer to actually DO the work. I’d have to have (temporarily) a few limited admin powers to do this, but I’d be willing to help. The title Newsletter & Financial Contributor could be used for both or something similar. It would look like this

Site supporters is already shown on the Forum Operating Costs thread -- members are identified when donations have been made (unless they have requested anonymity).
I'd prefer to not go down the badging road.

I'm a newcomer to TSF, but I have about 25 years' experience of Internet forums. I've found that the forums in which everybody is equal are more fun than the forums in which there are hierarchies. In one of the hierarchical forums, I was promoted to "VIP", and at first I was delighted. But then I learned that my mighty "VIP" status discouraged other users from conversing with me. I'd expect the proposed system of badges for donations and contributions to have a similar effect.
Don't fix what ain't broke!

Well, Al, angore , I thought your idea had some merit. It never hurts to offer suggestions and ideas and, in fact, they should be encouraged. You never know when someone might have an idea that is awesome. But OMG - your idea got BOTH Admin AND Londonbus1 to pipe up. That idea got shot down by the BIG guns Kabooooom.

Thanks for your post, rod222mberry is correct. The TSF Image Host is separate from TSF, so you need separate credentials to login. As Mike posted, you need to request a TSF Image Host account from Admin by PM, and he will set up an account for you. Rod, this is something that was developed during your absence from TSF. It was not an option during your original period of activity from 2013-2016. It came about because of the great Photobucket Debacle, at which point the majority of the Forum's images were lost because most members were using Photobucket for image hosting. By using the TSF Image Host, the long-term security of posted images is much more easily ensured, so many of us have converted to using that platform. If you would like to set up an account, please contact Steve by PM.

First attempt (like any when attempting new software routines) was very clunky. I finally found how to change my password
During attempt, I selected 3 images, but it would only upload one image at a time so had to do it 3 times for 3 images, Now I have multiple images in the same folder, and I cannot see any "delete" for duplication.
When uploading, I was getting images side by side, not underneath
"add images to post" was a lot simpler.
Happy to persevere with TSF image host, but any recommendations on how to grease the routine?

rod222.......if you want to upload more than one image, use the BBCode, not preview. Once uploaded you can change to preview to check.

Sadly, I removed the ability for users to delete images after a vengeful former member began deleting images from his account. Luckily, I was able to stop him before any further damage was done to Forum posts.
For all who have an image host account, changing your password can be done by clicking on the edit profile link under your name. On the next screen that appears click on password, enter current and new passwords, and click on the save changes button. To borrow from John Wayne's character in the 1940s film Long Voyage Home, "Easy-peasy. Take it easy,..."

The steps I use for bulk image upload to TSF image host: 1. in new post, go to full reply mode 2. Switch to BBCode view 3. select "Upload images" (TSF image host) NOT "Add image to post" (imgbb) in upper right of post window 4. select "start uploading" (it will usually log automatically to the account - sometimes I have to log in first) 5. select images 6. select private upload
Images are uploaded then save post. I have had mixed results bulk uploading in preview mode.
In private upload, no one can see images unless they have the image link.
