This is something I've seen more than a few inquiries about. For the most part non-Spanish collectors mistake these for the bar cancelled remainders. the difference being that the Muestra's have a single, thick, printed (by roller) bar. This type of specimen stamp, from what I can tell appears only on issues of 1854-56 period. These are not listed in Scott, but are listed in the specialized Edifil catalog. The block above is the 4c issue (Scott 37, Ed 40) from 1855. There are other ways Spain has identified Specimens in later years. Some have 2 thing bars and some are simply overprinted "MUESTRA". Let's see some of yours.
