agree, all contributions are very good and make for enjoyable reading, and whilst I have now made my choice it really wasn't easy. Sincere thanks to all contributors.
edited to add: Linda's wonderful contribution to the current 'News Letter' - 'Stamp Out War - Support Ukraine' - makes reference to the author's use of the words: 'covers', 'maxicards' and 'postcards', which Linda has been using to describe her art work: "A maxicard is a postcard, or cover, on which a stamp and a cancel are fixed on the image side, and which jointly correspond to a single theme". As you've probably seen in the 'Shoutbox', Linda has expressed a wish that her words 'covers', 'maxicards' and 'postcards' are replaced by a more appropriate descriptive single-word term, and from several proposed alternatives Linda suggests 'pictogram'. This isn't a new word - it's been around for a while, and wasn't in fact one of the original alternative suggestions, but more as a base for other suggestions - pictogram is a modern cannibalized word that Wiki define as: "A pictogram, also called a pictogramme, pictograph, or simply picto, and in computer usage an icon, is a graphic symbol that conveys its meaning through its pictorial resemblance to a physical object."
Linda has asked that further suggestions are posted here, perhaps for others to refine and comment on - I rather liked 'philatogram' ;-)
