What I collect: Japan and Ireland, Cats, dragons, and mythical creatures

Hello!
I'm new to this forum, but not to stamp collecting. I started when I was elementary school, and while I have had periods where I wasn't active, I've always enjoyed the hobby. I just returned recently with my husband last year or so. I'm married (obviously) with two grown children and am working to complete my bachelors in Accounting by the fall.
I mainly collect Japan, but have started to expand out into the Ryukyus and Manchoukou. I am a member of the International Society of Japanese Philately. And just this year I've started collecting Ireland.
I've dabbled in topicals where my main focus has been cats and dragons, but I've been thinking of expanding to butterflies and flowers.
I'd love to connect with other collectors that share my interests as well as join discussions of the hobby in general.

Welcome to TSF, phoenixfireWhere in California are you located, if you don't mind saying? I am in the Ontario-Upland area, just having moved back here after nearly a decade away, including the past 5 years in Europe. I think you will definitely find other members on the Forum who share your interests. Enjoy your time with us.... -Chris

Greetings and welcome! Our interests overlap, too Cool! I just started my Ireland collection. I just sorta jumped in the middle around the 50s-70s. I did the same back when I started collecting Japan. Have you been collecting both for a while?

Oh my - I’ve been collecting for many years, but I dove heavily into Ireland and Japan in the 90s if I remember correctly? For Japan I only collect used singles after 1960, mint or used for earlier issues. I collect everything Irish.
I have a freebie offer running for Japan - will message you details.

I'm intersted in flowers as well. At present I have a binder of stock pages and have just been stuffing new items into it.
As a retired professional horticulturalist, it bothers me that my accumulation is such a hodge podge, so I hpe to come up witrh a system to give this collection some order. My inclination is to arrange the stamps by plant family, Genus, species, and then possibly cultivar.
Your ideas would be most welcome....
